There's no reason she can't be in this? All it means is that she joins the X-Men before X1. That's assuming you treat this as one big collection of interlinked movies the way they want you to... I treat the prequels as their own thing.

I just thought it might have been something they would have mentioned in the first films. Being a horsemen of the apocalypse seems like a pretty big deal.

They've retconned all of those original movies now. They never happened. But you probably knew that :shifty:

(everything along the top row is retconned and never happened). The only things that have happened is First Class, along with the events set in the Past of DofP.

Not really a spoiler but I might not have seen it it if I'd known they only fight Apocalypse and his pals in the last twenty minutes.

Good bits:

- The start, set in ancient Egypt, was really enjoyable.
- The movie flowed pretty well.
- Cyclops, Jean and Nightcrawler feel like a team.
- Jennifer Lawrence doesn't take over like she did in the last movie.

Bad bits:
- Magneto kills a bunch of people and nobody cares, again.
- Apocalypse looks silly at times and does nonsensical things, like recruiting a girl who doesn't like killing as his first horseman.
- Magneto's/everyone's feels.
- Apocalypse looks at people like he wants to have sex with them for the first hour.

That was pretty good I thought, definitely better than Batman v Superman.

Quicksilver was fantastic.

It was alright I guess. I didn't really like DOFP when I saw that and wasn't expecting much from this.

Psylocke is a babe.
Apocalypse looks stupid.
Quicksilver is the best part of it again.

I only just realised that was Jubilee in this :fp:

I somehow doubt the kid with the ability to make things sparkle is going to make it into the X-Men.

Saw this with Parkreiner last night. It's a hell of a mixed bag.

Plus points

- Magneto is good, of all the bad guys in the movie, he was the most fleshed out and had the best reason for actually being there
- Quicksilver is excellent, Evan Peters has nailed the character and has the best scene in the film again
- Character design was good, and I especially liked Psylocke
- Overall, the film wasn't the car crash I was expecting, it's easy enough to understand most of the characters and what their motivations are, and the action is solid.
- McAvoy has settled into the Professor X role really well.
- I really enjoyed the final fight in Cairo.
- The song Four Horsemen playing during Angel/Archangel was a nice touch. Bit heavy handed but I liked it.
- It was nice to see Moira MacTaggart back, it was a shame she was missed out of DofP.

Negative points

- Apocalypse. What the strawberry float man. Oscar Isaac is a fantastic actor and he's wasted in the role. The guy spends too much time designing the horsemen's outfits and not enough time doing anything else.
- The plot is a bit rushed. Parkreiner pointed out that there are big set-pieces that should've been hard hitting and meaningful, but weren't because they happen too quickly, or with not enough explanation
- There was absolutely no need for the Weapon X interlude. I get that it's setting up Wolverine III but it just adds another point onto an already cluttered film.
- Several characters really don't have the time to shine, or aren't fleshed out enough. Yet again, Angel gets wasted like he was in X-Men 3 with hardly any scenes, although I did enjoy what there was of him. Storm and Psylocke were the same, and what was the strawberry floating point of Jubilee.

Overall, probably a 6/10. The worst of the second trilogy, but still sits above Last Stand and Wolverine: Origins by a comfortable distance.

He should have destroyed the mansion instead of it being Havok strawberry floating up

Just got back from watching it, thought it was bloody great. Most positive I've been coming out of a comic book movie film this year. They really went balls to the wall with the whole Apocalypse it was strawberry floating nuts. At one point where gooseberry fool was being torn up I actually laughed and said strawberry floating hell, it was incredible. Loved Magneto as always, Appcalypse was incredibly menacing, all the new mutants who came in where appealing and Quicksilver smashed it out the park again. The only one I felt slightly down on was Raven oddly because usually she's one of my favourite but in this despite having a central role her scenes were all a bit monotone and she didn't really do anything particularly interesting.

The final fight at the end was properly epic and the climax actually felt like a pay off after update the crazy stakes of the film. The scene between Magneto and Xavier at the very end was glorious in the way it mirrored the end of X1. It wasn't quite delivered as perfectly as back then but it had me grinning from ear to ear.

This new X-Men trilogy has been bloody fantastic, right up there with the best comic book movie trilogies of Nolans Batman and Captain America.

Rather enjoyed this, not much better than seeing Magneto absolutely strawberry float everything up.

Best bits

- Magneto in the forest losing the rag, again.
- Quicksilver, of course
- Phoniex Force :datass:

- Weapon X bit wasnt really needed bit was awesome and gives me hope for new Wolverine.
- Overarching plot/stakes was exciting and a bit different to the usual.
- Extended cast
- Being in the X Men suits as a proper team

Worst

- Apocalyse shouldnt be destroyed within one film.
- He maybe should have been CGI, at points looked daft.
- Magnetos story was basically same as last time.
- Stryker looks like Steven Stiffler grown up with a good ass job no one expected him to get.

Solid 8/10 great film.

One is a life sentence of misery and regret. The other is going to prison.

Saw this last night. Thought it was pretty average just like the last one. First Class is still by far my favourite of the new ones.
