X-Men: Apocalypse - From the director of the two best X-movies (X2 and DOFP)

Film Four have been showing the X-Men chronology in preparation for the new film coming out, and I just caught The Wolverine again. Maybe it's just me, but I thought it was really good on repeat viewing. A solid action film and probably the most faithful representation of Wolverine on screen. A shame it came out on the back of it's shitty predecessor and a really good Wolverine-free X-Men film.

Some of the Silver Samurai stuff was a bit dodgy but other than that I really enjoyed The Wolverine.

I also rewatched it last night, and totally agree. Wolverine actually gets a character arc.

The Wolverine is a great movie. R rated version is even better.

+1 for enjoying The Wolverine, didn't get the hate for it. The tone of it is great and felt properly in tone to how Wolverine should.

Looking forward to this new film, may see it friday.

I'd put it in fifth, without having seen Apocalypse, behind X2, DofP, First Class and probably just about on a par with Deadpool, although I still need to see that again.

There's no reason she can't be in this? All it means is that she joins the X-Men before X1. That's assuming you treat this as one big collection of interlinked movies the way they want you to... I treat the prequels as their own thing.

I just thought it might have been something they would have mentioned in the first films. Being a horsemen of the apocalypse seems like a pretty big deal.

They've retconned all of those original movies now. They never happened. But you probably knew that :shifty:

(everything along the top row is retconned and never happened). The only things that have happened is First Class, along with the events set in the Past of DofP.

Not really a spoiler but I might not have seen it it if I'd known they only fight Apocalypse and his pals in the last twenty minutes.

Good bits:

- The start, set in ancient Egypt, was really enjoyable.
- The movie flowed pretty well.
- Cyclops, Jean and Nightcrawler feel like a team.
- Jennifer Lawrence doesn't take over like she did in the last movie.

Bad bits:
- Magneto kills a bunch of people and nobody cares, again.
- Apocalypse looks silly at times and does nonsensical things, like recruiting a girl who doesn't like killing as his first horseman.
- Magneto's/everyone's feels.
- Apocalypse looks at people like he wants to have sex with them for the first hour.

That was pretty good I thought, definitely better than Batman v Superman.

Quicksilver was fantastic.

It was alright I guess. I didn't really like DOFP when I saw that and wasn't expecting much from this.

Apocalypse looks stupid.
Quicksilver is the best part of it again.

I only just realised that was Jubilee in this :fp:

I somehow doubt the kid with the ability to make things sparkle is going to make it into the X-Men.
