Not a strawberry floating prayer.

Has a console ever sold a million units of hardware in a month outside of November/December?

600,000+ then. It'll get a significant boost from Heavy Rain, GoW3 and FF13, theres also that Baseball game out. Yakuza 3 and the GTA episodes.

Its a big month or so from the end of Feb to the end of March, if it doesn't get significant sales then its pretty much over.

GOWIII and FF13 may sell a few consoles but I doubt it will break 500,000 and it could be a lot less.

Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg has said that to be this early into 2010 and showcasing the line-up the firm did at X10 last week, “really speaks to how big a year this will be for us”.

At last week’s X10 event in San Francisco Microsoft hailed 2010 its “biggest and most breakthrough year yet” as it confirmed Xbox 360 software release dates and exclusive content.

Speaking to Kotaku, Greenberg said, “To be this early in the year and able to have an E3-quality line-up with triple-A blockbuster titles, that really speaks to how big a year this will be for us. This is just a glimpse of the quality of products we're going to bring throughout the full year."

The event showcased Alan Wake, Halo: Reach, Fable III, Splinter Cell Conviction, Dead Rising 2, Lost Planet 2 and Crackdown 2.

Greenberg continued, “If you're a core gamer we've never ever had a line-up like this all in one year, plus [motion control add-on Project] Natal, plus everything we're doing around [online service] Xbox Live innovation. Last year we saved a lot of our big news for E3. This year we absolutely have a lot of big news for E3, but we have so much that we are starting early.

"It's going to be a big year... it's going to be the biggest year in the history of Xbox."

Project Gotham 5 by Turn 10 with Head Tracking
Gears Of War 3
Perfect Dark 2 (Easter 2011 release)

I doubt these are this year unless you have a source.

Maybe not this year but announced at E3.

It would be great if PGR5 was the Natal core gamer hook this year though.

I don't know about coming out this year but i definitely think PGR5 will be revealed this year.

I'm still hoping and praying for Gears 3 this year  . But would Microsoft really release Gears and Halo in the same year?

Microsoft is developing a new iteration of a 'large franchise' to work with Project Natal - and the mystery title reads like a hardcore game.

The info comes from a new Microsoft job ad spotted by CVG for a Level Designer. The candidate will work on a 'Project Natal Job' at the firm's Redmond Campus in Washington, US.

The job ad reads:

'MGS is looking for a talented, motivated and experienced Sr. Level Designer who can create innovative game-play solutions for a large franchise.

'The Sr. Level Designer is expected to implement major gameplay features to high quality, focusing on creating and implementing level designs. Qualified individuals are expected to be organized, with excellent communication skills, both verbally and written, and have a proven track record in AAA game design.

'Must have a clear understanding and experience creating mission/environment design, look and feel, AI, combat, strategy, game-flow, and balance. We want somebody who can put forth ideas without fear, and build off other people's zany creations.

'Candidates who find fault with other people's brainstorms to prove how smart they are need not apply. Candidates must have passion for a broad range of game experiences, and be well versed in market trends and styles. While years of experience are a definite plus, positive creative energy and a wealth of genius ideas is a must. This is a rare opportunity to join a seasoned, creatively driven team on an exciting next-generation project.'

'Experience creating mission design... AI... combat'?

This sounds very much like a core franchise to us. Then again, the bit about building 'off other people's zany creations' is less exciting.

Looks like there will be more to Natal than just Wii style games.

I was just going to say this. It's a complete gimmick unless you have a multi-screen setup (GT5 supports this) but even then I doubt it really improves the experience at all.

Edit: Turn 10 are making PGR5? That won't be out this year then, they only just released Forza 3 a few months ago.
