When it's retailing for £102, coupled with a big Square Enix release (always pushes up the numbers), it isn't that surprising that it's sold a lot more than it usually does.

What's more surprising, is that the Xbox 360 has more Sqaure/RPG titles to appeal to the Japanese than Sony or Nintendo combined.

Wow, 28,000.

I never thought I'd see that.

Media Create figures have shown that Xbox 360 didn’t outsell Wii in Japan last week, as you can see at the bottom of the stats service’s site.

The figures that showed the Microsoft machine in front were from Enterbrain, the company that publishes Famitsu.

Here’s the Media Create chart. Data for the week ending September 14.

What happened with the PSP sales? They are still good but didn’t they use to be around the DS numbers lately?

Next NPD is 360 price cut month, aided by Rock Band 2 timed exclusive and a TV advertising campaign promoting both.
So it's likely going to do pretty well.

I was in New York two days ago (it was awesome) and the MTV store in Times Square had been split in two, with one section devoted to Rock Band 2 (with a playing area, logos, merchandise, etc...). A big push is most definitely underway.

Iy my simple view (as a person who doesn't come from a monied background), they've only now got the price to a level that a lot of folk can honestly consider. It's about time really.

I think it's a relatively quiet period in the year for videogame sales. It's not really that the PSP sales have decreased significantly, it's that the DS and 360 are seeing higher than usual sales because of Pokemon (+ RTG/Dragon Quest etc) and the price-cuts (+ "exclusive" RPGs) respectively.
