That was even worse than expected. Lots of exclusives coming though so I guess we have to wait for E3.

In conclusion, that's about as worst of a reveal as anyone reasonably expected. It's not PS3's Giant Enemy Crab bad, but it shows Microsoft has done nothing to appease its critics (and indeed doubled down on the entertainment-only-available-in-the-US gooseberry fool with the NFL moneyhat and the Halo TV series) and more to the point completely failed to deny any of the negative rumours. [Edit: oh, and now they deny always online in the post-show. I suspect lots of people will miss that tidbit] Of special note is the lack of a mention of backwards compatibility, which they at least noted in the 360 reveal to much applause. Therefore, my working assumption on the subject: the Xbox1 is not backwards compatible with any 360 games.

Anyone who was disappointed with that had completely the wrong expectations.

They showed the console, specs, talked about what it could do, showed 1 new exclusive game and confirmed they have lots more and confirmed its launching in 2013. Oh and they announced they are creating TV series out of their biggest franchise with one of the biggest directors in the world and I guess not important for here, but the link up with NFL is huge for the US.

Not sure what else you realistically could have expected.

I thought the multitasking stuff worked really well, the interface looks good.

Only two things really missing. Firstly with all that TV stuff and a 500GB HDD...why isn't the box a PVR. Secondly, price point. Other than that it was just about perfect.

The stuff about a smaller streaming device for BC could be true. They did say at the beginning that they would talk about the future of the 360 at E3, so I wouldn't completely rule out BC although it's not looking promising.

Backwards compatibility shouldn't matter. If it keeps the cost down then strawberry float it.
