That sentence was based on his idea's on media streaming, saying it'll be a major part of Xbox E3, which it will not me, as I said, no idea what gamers want, he's more of a windows guy.

Odd he didn't mention occulus tho...glaringly obvious it could happen.

That "Scorpio" rumour is real odd. Why limit themselves to bumping the GPU? I may be wrong but surely giving the areas like RAM and such a bit if a tune-up as well would automatically mean you'd see an improvement playing existing Xboxone games?

MS are still finalising the specs for this 'Scorpio' console so it'll likely see improvements across the board

I wonder if this is now the end of the console lengthy cycle. If we have a "new" PS4 this year and a "new" XBO in 2017, chances are things could get quite silly as Sony and MS start releasing new consoles every 2 years to stay on top. Suddenly the shitty underpowered NX becomes appealing.

Yes?

What I want:
An X1 with more RAM. That would be an easy revision to make, cheap, be backwards compatible with current games, make the OS less clunky/slow/crash to desktop

A faster read/write HDD/SSD
Make the case smaller too
And build the power supply inside it for bonus points.

What we will actually get:
TV stick to try and get back market share from Amazon/Google/Apple.

As long as everything is back-compat then if there are new iterative Xbox revisions every 3 years then I'm game.

This will most definitely be the case going forward you'd like to think. It would be nice if we can play 360 games (rumours of original Xbox games being emulated so maybe those as well) as well as XB1 games on this Xbox 2 that's supposed to be coming out next year. Power wasn't the only reason the XB1 has fallen so far behind but if Microsoft actual reveal this with a focus on games and play up the fact it's backwards compat with XB1, etc and how powerful it is, maybe it'll fair better than the Xbox One - or at least raise the Xbox brand's credibility with gamers again (To really offer goodwill, maybe announce some sort of trade in discount). The Xbox One even now probably still hasn't shaken off the stench from the awful initial reveal.

So long as the price is right, specs are good and it is backwards compat then i imagine there's a good chance i'd get one.

Phil Spencer indicated back in Feb every Xbox console going forward would be backwards compatible.

So basically the next Xbox then given that is 4 years since launch.

Dump the One brand too, far too toxic.

More rumours this time from Polygon. Amazing after hearing nothing about XB1.5 for so long, suddenly the floodgates in terms rumours have now opened all at once.

Microsoft has two new Xbox consoles on the horizon, according to reports on Kotaku that Polygon has corroborated with its own sources. Those sources also told Polygon that one of those new consoles will be over four times more powerful than the current Xbox One and that the announcement at E3 was triggered by, among other things, a faster-than-expected timeline for Sony’s own upgraded PlayStation 4. The other console, a slimmed-down version of the current hardware, will also be getting a redesigned controller.

Seems a bit early to announce it at E3 but I guess they want to get out the news that it's 50% more powerful than the Neo asap. Possibly combine it with the UWP scheme moving forward next month. Interesting times ahead.

Still not sure how I feel about consoles adopting these mobile phone like strategies. Every 3-4 years is a bit easier to swallow but we'll see.

If these new systems are not out until 2017, wouldn't it be better to hold off any kind of announcement until maybe Gamescom or TGS? Any news on new systems would surely have a knock on effect with the current consoles.

Gies though, the source is probably his Cortana pillow.

EDIT: The only thing we know for sure is that you shouldn't buy an Xboxone right now.

I don't mind a new console ever 4 years or so, but if they do that then backwards compatibility is absolutely critical. I'd be ready for a new round of consoles in 2017 to be fair. Technology seems to be moving at a pretty quick pace again at the moment.

If it did turn out to be a new console every 3-4 years then i'd probably hold back until a year after each new release to hopefully pick it up cheaper.

I wonder if this is the approach Nintendo are adopting too?

I don't think people would be happy to have to upgrade a console every 4 years, this isn't like a phone contract.

6 years generations just work, let's keep it that way.
