Sounds like it's still on course for this year!

"We're close, we're really close," Spencer said when asked for the status of Xbox backwards compatibility. "I have a little dashboard I go to and I can see all the games [and] where they are in getting approvals in the pipeline. I know the games that are coming for the original Xbox but I don't think we've announced them all. We have to do this in partnership with partners, but we're still on track. I feel really good. The games look great."

Spencer also remains confident that the feature will be out before the end of the year, as planned. "Oh yeah," he said about his certainty of a 2017 launch. He also teased that there are still details about backwards compatibility will work on Xbox One X that have yet to be revealed: "There's some stuff we're going to talk about in that space in terms of how compatibility's going to work on [Xbox One] X specifically that I think people will find pretty interesting.

"Some of the games hold up really well; some of them don't. But the gameplay mechanics and the smile [you got] on your face 15 years ago playing those games, those are things that are still there. I see it, like getting back to playing Crimson Skies, [it's] fantastic, and the game actually looks really good even though it's obviously been around."

Spencer mentioning Crimson Skies is expected, as it's only one of two games--along with Fuzion Frenzy--that have been confirmed as part of the program. "We have multiple games up and running--we just decided to tease the first one[s]," Microsoft executive Dave McCarthy explained about Microsoft's E3 reveal of the first two games. "There will be a library of games available, for sure." However, you shouldn't expect the library to be as big as that of Xbox 360 backwards compatible games.

I have noticed 2 of the Disneyland 360 Kinect games are now showing in the marletplace.

I'd love Kinect games to work as some were decent fun don't get why they couldn't get them working with the new Kinect

more heat than light wrote:Yeah they're 'remastering' a couple of the old Kinect games, I assume to keep the last few remaining Kinect fans happy.

When they first announced Backwards Compatibility they said Kinect wasn't possible because of the difference in camera quality, but i'm sure there must be a way of emulating the old camera. I guess it's not exactly a priority these days, which is a shame. I really enjoy some of those games.

they use joypad on X1.

Grabbed by the Ghoulies is an interesting one considering its inclusion in Rare Replay. I’m just glad Crimson Skies is getting mentioned again. I’d love a sequel on the Xbox One :shifty:

Hell yeah if NGB is true. Hopefully NG2 won't be far behind.

13 original Xbox games release tomorrow. All upgraded to 1080p and better frame rates.

These are the first 13 games you can play on any Xbox One if you own the title, beginning tomorrow:
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Ninja Gaiden Black
Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
Fuzion Frenzy
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Psychonauts
Dead to Rights
Black
Grabbed by the Ghoulies
Sid Meier’s Pirates!
Red Faction II
BloodRayne 2
The King of Fighters Neowave
If you still have your original Xbox disc, just insert it into your Xbox One console. If you own it digitally, that will also work. Many of these games can also be purchased from the Xbox Store in digital form for $9.99.

Probably get Ninja Gaiden Black, Pirates and Pyschonauts. Can’t believe they are in 1080p, comparison vids show a huge increase in sharpness.

4 360 games are getting Xbox One X upgrades to HDR, Resolution and frame rates, Asassins Creed, Halo 3, Fallout 3 and Oblivion.

Halo 3 won’t be as good as MCC Halo 3 cos it’s half the frame rate but I own Fallout 3 and Oblivion so interested to see how they are.

Jet Set Radio Future is the only one I care about. I would consider borrowing an Xbone to play it.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Excellent! Will definitely get NGB, Crimson Skies and Black.

I'm sure there's licensing stuff that makes some of these impossible, but I'd love JSRF, Panzer Dragoon, Burnout 3, Shenmue II, TimeSplitters 2, Silent Hill 2 and Freedom Fighters to eventually be added.

Bit more on that:
4 Xbox 360 Games Getting Xbox One X Enhancements

Microsoft’s Xbox backwards compatibility team is adding Xbox One X-specific enhancements to four high-profile Xbox 360 games that are already playable on Xbox One: Halo 3, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3, and Assassin’s Creed. All four updates will be available for free to anyone who owns the game on November 7, the same day the Xbox One X launches.

Some titles now have 10-bit color depth unlocked where they previously had 8-bit, others have HDR lighting enabled, and all have nine times the on-screen pixels. I got to see Halo 3 running in a developer mode that clearly showcased the difference. The left half of the screen was standard Xbox 360 emulation on Xbox One, which already offers framerate smoothing and other subtle benefits. On the right it had HDR and the 9x pixel count.

Why? It's all OST, not licensed.
