Isn't OG Xbox Live still down? If so, what's the point in Battlefront?

I'll probably give Panzer Dragoon Orta and Breakdown a go, not too fussed about the rest but good for MS for keeping going with this.

Is it bad that I’m tempted to pick up an Xbox One X purely for the back compatibility stuff? Fantastic work by MS

In regards to the older OG Xbox BC, does it work by putting your original game discs into the XBone or are they download only?

MS continues to lead the way with backwards-compatibility and it would be a huge plus point were I in the market for a console now.

I'm disappointed that Sony is, in comparison, offering less attractive options in terms of access to older games. Even if PlayStation Now was blended into PS Plus for "free", I'd still prefer the MS approach.

Edit:

You can do both, Milner - either use your original disc to access the new enhanced version of the game, or purchase it from the Xbox Store.

Yeah it'll spin your Xbox disc and then download a digital version for you. You'll still need the disc in the drive to play it though.

I definitely get the impression that if they're putting up games that really depend on the online functionality (I.e Battlefront), then they will be set up to run over the current Xbox Live. They're not going to sell it if you can't go online.

Has Red dead Redemption had any improvement to frame rates do we know?

Looking forward at playing Red Dead tonight. It already looked great so this just ups things. So weird seeing 360 games in my Xbox One Enhanced section. :)

Locked 30 I presume, it was certainly locked at that before this enhancement and how things work it'll stay that way. Can't make it run 60fps as you'd have to get into the game properly, the enhancements uses a method that doesn't touch the game code.

Portal will look amazing in 4K I would think :datass: shame about Force Unleashed as I’ve finished that now, hopefully they can patch the second game before I start it

The OG Xbox games running on X1... have they all been the same ones that ran on 360 BC? I need to get a bunch of original Xbox games but they don’t work on X1 while they do on 360. I imagine there’s a good chance they’ll come to X1 too eventually if they’re choosing OG Xbox stuff from the lost they’ve already got working

I think there is some overlap with the 360's BC, but I'm not positive.

For me the most annoying part was that my Xbox copy of Ninja Gaiden didn't work because it wasn't the re-release Ninja Gaiden Black. Looking forward to revisiting Panzer Dragoon Orta. That disc has sat un-used in my collection for far too long.

Personally I'm hoping for Jet Set Radio Future at some point as well.

Great list. Have a lot of the better ones already on PC, but will definitely pick up Panzer Dragoon Orta.

I would love Jet Set Radio Future to appear on it! Also used to love the Obi Wan to appear.

It's very difficult to emulate PS3 games due to the unconventional Cell architecture.

As Sony and MS are rumoured to be sticking with AMD x86 next-gen BC should be achieved very easily, just as Pro/X can run PS4/Xbone games without emulation or optimisation.

What about OG Xbox games? surely that's a hard enough task for MS to not only bring to Xbox One, but make them 4K on an X.

Yes, but original Xbox emulation has been worked on for a long time now, not only by MS.

I know its hard but even you have to admit that the back compat program by MS is exceptional, all that work and enhancements for no additional cost.

I'd love GTA IV/Final Fantasy XIII in 4K next please MS.
