It just seems like the best way to upgrading cheaper and better for the environment.

Microsoft are at odds with themselves, what with Apple
opening up iOS to proper streaming apps worldwide and them going ‘no thanks’.

So it looks like they only bothered to launch xCloud on Android just to bury Stadia.

That's not true at all. Apple's 'compliance' with the new laws have been widely criticised by almost everyone. They haven't 'opened up' at all.

Don’t get me wrong: Apples ‘compliance’ is still one sided in their favour and they’ve barely capitulated at all. It’s not like I can finally sideload .ipa files on my iPhone and the app rules make it financially unviable for anyone but large corporations to sidestep the App Store.

But the streaming app thing is a separate, worldwide thing and not related to the EU rulings. XCloud came to Android years ago and Apple blocked streaming apps due to wanting to test every game therein first. Microsoft naturally gave them the finger.

Now Apple have opened iOS up to streaming apps worldwide Microsoft still say no even though they operate it as an extension of Gamepass and not a core business model. To my knowledge if they sold gamepass subs via the Android app they’d have to pay Google 30% of that fee, just as they would Apple.

In other words the business conditions for a worldwide xcloud app are identical on Android and iOS yet they still won’t bring it to Apple devices. My gut tells me that they only therefore brought it to Android in the first place just to bury Stadia.

But Xbox streaming works just fine on iOS as it is.

It does but on iPhone it’s via a browser with borders on the edges rather than full-screen like Android and the iPad.

Rumour from a pretty reliable leaker -

[Exclusive] Microsoft Has An All-Digital, White Xbox Series X In The Works
No major changes, save for a few.

Story Highlights

Microsoft is planning to release a digital Xbox Series X somewhere between June and July this year.
The black color of the existing console will be swapped with white, and it’ll be all-digital.
The price of the digital Xbox Series X is unknown, but it could be lower than the current model.

Microsoft is currently working to release a white-colored Xbox Series X with no disc reader, sources close to eXputer have revealed confidential footage to confirm it to us. This all-digital console is expected to be released sometime between the upcoming months of June and July, but there are chances for a slight delay on that front as well.

The Price Of The White Xbox Series X
We currently do not have accurate information depicting the price of this console, but since it’s digital-only, the white Xbox Series X could be $50-$100 lower than the MSRP of the current Xbox Series X with 1 TB storage. For reference, the latter is $499.99 in the US, Japan, Chile, Brazil, and Colombia; costing more in other regions, such as Canada and Australia, due to Microsoft’s price hike from last year.

Other Improvements
Beyond the color switch-up and the lack of an optical disc drive (ODD), the other changes made to the white Xbox Series X shown to us include an improved heatsink and an upgraded Nexus card as opposed to the one on the current Xbox Series X.
We are unable to share images of the new console at the time due to the secrecy of the matter.
