Exactly the same with the 360 and PS3. People who are complaining now were happy, or not bothered to comment then.

Would you care to back this up with evidence? I can't recall any genuine PS3 bashing, certainly not on the same scale.

Oh c'mon, PS3 has been bashed to gooseberry fool around here  The search isn't working so can't show examples but it's was exactly the same as it is now.

You are right. I was certain 95% of you were Xbots when I first joined. Which is probably why I think so many of you still are

It's almost like console racism. Consolism. :) I like to play games. Don't give a gooseberry fool about what I play them on so long as the game is good.

Maybe you stayed out of PS3 threads, but Rik, Fishy and Photek were constant bashers. Can't believe the short, or possibly selective memories in this place!

Yeah, I never ventured into the PS3 threads to be fair. Not sure why anyone would if they had no interest in the console to be honest. Maybe I did miss the fanboyism back then, but it still isn't a reason to do it now.
No one is being a fanboy though, just pointing out facts. If you go back 6 months or so, Rik was telling everyone how the CPU and GPU of the XBO was superior to the PS4, based on basically nothing. Fanboyism to the extreme and have to wonder if this is one of the reasons he seems to have left the forum because his make believe world came crashing down around him.

If that were the case, no-one would be complaining.

My issue is just that it's not being done in the right thread and that it has de-railed this thread. By all means compare the merits and issues of each console but do it in a more suitable thread and try and do it for a purpose.

A console megathread should allow all spectrum of opinions especially as their may be legitimate issues people want to talk about which are not always positive. But for people who are looking forward to the release of the Xbox One then it is understandable that when they just want to talk about features they are really excited about they will feel upset about any criticisms of the platform. I think The Xbone anticipation thread is definitely worth a try where conversation is focused on appreciation of the console, comparisons with other consoles and criticisms are kept out. Perhaps a confirmed launch day buyer can start it up today and we see how it goes?

The main Xbox One and PlayStation 4 threads will sometimes veer into comparisons and a little big of wiggle room should be allowed. But it seems there is an appetite for more direct discussion. Perhaps the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 thread can become the Xbox One vs PlayStation 4 thread? It can be the general discussion place where forum members can rant why they think a feature on one console is better than another. Just suggesting.

Which lies have been posted? The problem is that some people don't want to see XBO bad news and others enjoy seeing it.

'Minor'? OK.

Also, where is this XBOX ONE vs PS4 thread you speak of? Right now there is nowhere to discuss the developments of XBOX ONE.

Yes, minor graphical differences between 360 and ps3. I'm sure the same will happen again.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=34956

Discuss why you are buying one over the other here. Your welcome.

Before I read the rest of the thread I thought your comment was in context to next-gen systems. I apologise for the mis-understanding.

EDIT: That thread isn't for a vs. discussion either. It's simply to denote who will be buying what, since you want to be so precise.

EDIT 2: It just seems to me you want XBOX ONE new muted...and I don't know why. There's been critical news in the last 12 hours about XBOX ONE yet nowhere to post it.

I'm not a fan of these catch-all platform megathreads for various reasons, I think it would be better for discussion if we had new threads for new news and I've been over that several times in the past. That 'sub-1080p resolution X1 games' news would surely be big enough to deserve it's own thread for instance?

I agree...but some people who may start such threads would be treading on egg-shells.

If you enjoy seeing negative news about a rival console, you're a twat, frankly.

Likewise, if you're so precious that you have to have negative opinions banished to another thread you're a whole new sort of gimp.

I would say it's more relevant to a vs discussion than this thread.

I agree with your second edit, we do need a thread to hightlight the pros and cons of each console. But in an informative way. Cut the juvenille bs.

Have a look at the thread that talks about the different hd tvs. That's informative with people sharing their opinions in a good humoured manner. No playground my tv is better than yours stuff.

Can't we have the same for consoles?

I haven't asked for that. You can be negative without being moronic.

Agreed...but we don't have a thread to talk about the technical developments of the next-gen platforms together. We have either the XBOX ONE thread or the PS4 thread and, by discussion, be it childish or mature, there will be a natural cross-over when talking about specification and performance relative to each other.

If the mods feel so strongly about it (as do some members) I really thing they should create the OP with some ground rules, then we can just get on with it. All gaming announcements can be reported in the platform specific threads and the technical stuff in a single thread.

Yeah, not sure why some people persisted in doing that even when called out on it.

So, people getting an Xbox One, does the resolution thing bother you that much? I've known about it for a while but it really doesn't bother me, the games do honestly look great and they run smoothly, it's enough for me.

Is there a place to pre-order that Killer Instinct limited edition with the badge thing here in the UK yet? Saw it on the US store but now seen one that we can pre-order in the UK. Massively hyped for Killer Instinct, it's quite refreshing as a fighter that isn't all about projectiles.

Frame rates bother me but not resolution, no.

I'm more than happy about getting an X1. TitianFall and Halo will make me a happy lad!
