That is good in theory, but most people are too lazy to create new threads. And this thread moves slowly enough, so that you won't miss any important news.

Just a shame all this policing couldn't have happened during the PS3/360 gen rather than just starting now, suggests some bias towards MS TBH.

I don't mind negativity, it's the glee with which it is presented by certain people that I find annoying. It's pretty easy to spot which people are impartial and which are rabid fanboys.

I was under the impression that's what this thread was. The xbox one or ps4 thread seems the logical place for a comparison discussion.

Or that people are older and wiser. Get over it and focus on having fun with the games.

Exactly the same with the 360 and PS3. People who are complaining now were happy, or not bothered to comment then.

Agreed. By all means pull the consoles pros and cons apart. But try and do it in a sensible fashion that actually shows a consoles issues for reasons other than to point and laugh, and do it in the relevant sodding thread.

I'm not a fan of these catch-all platform megathreads for various reasons, I think it would be better for discussion if we had new threads for new news and I've been over that several times in the past. That 'sub-1080p resolution X1 games' news would surely be big enough to deserve it's own thread for instance?

We tried it before and people complained there were too many Xbox or PS threads on one page  Personally I'm in the camp of 'new news, new thread'.

Would you care to back this up with evidence? I can't recall any genuine PS3 bashing, certainly not on the same scale.

Agreed. I do not recall daily radar, games radar or even the earlier years of grcade feeling so negative and whiney.

That's a terrible excuse though. Additionally, we have this problem because people are treating the Xbox One thread as two different things - one side is treating it as a place for people buying the Xbox One to look forward to it, the other side is treating it as a place to post all news including a lot of negativity about the platform (some focused more on reporting negatives than others) - the two sides are clearly not getting along which results in the thread turning to gooseberry fool.

If you're against the 'new threads for new news' idea, at the very least shouldn't we maybe split this thread into two - an Xbox One news thread and an Xbox One buyers launch anticipation thread?

Pretty sure grown men get older and wiser. I can sense you're hurting here. 'Mon get a hug. ;)

I remember that

Garth made a thread encouraging people to make more threads, and avoid megathreads. People all agreed and thought it was a grand idea. But then when it was actually working, "Another PS3/Xb1 thread? Mods, lock this gooseberry fool up". I think the idea was just another victim of fan boy rage.

Oh c'mon, PS3 has been bashed to gooseberry fool around here  The search isn't working so can't show examples but it's was exactly the same as it is now.

Maybe you stayed out of PS3 threads, but Rik, Fishy and Photek were constant bashers. Can't believe the short, or possibly selective memories in this place!

Complaining about too many threads, I mean it's just nuts. It creates discussion, not everyone wants to venture into megatopics but fanboy mentality got the better of people and their paranoids minds couldn't handle it.

I saw nothing wrong with the new thread for every news item etc, and thought it was a good idea. (But I am not sure we have the numbers to pull it off).

However I don't think the proposed split is necessary, surely people are old enough to be interested in both, and won't jump down a cliff if they see one shred of bad news. I mean you could try, but I bet one thread will just die and the other thread will just end up a megathread again.

Yeah, I never ventured into the PS3 threads to be fair. Not sure why anyone would if they had no interest in the console to be honest. Maybe I did miss the fanboyism back then, but it still isn't a reason to do it now.
