Yeah I've been a bit slow just lately. Although being compared monthly to people on my friends list is likely to give me a significant kick up the arse!

Yeah. If you include every 360, Xbox One, Windows 8, Windows Phone and GFWL game there are somewhere in the region of 2,000,000 available points.

I actually prefer the look of the white One. Which is odd for me, as I usually prefer black, or anything with colour to white.

Haha yeah I was little skeptical about black and white but the Xbox will be on a shelf while the Kinect will be under the TV on the top shelf so should be too bad. Got to try and rejig the Kinect and PS4 camera to fit in the same area.

The update has been brilliant. I can snap message/friends etc.

I thought the update was capable of playing MKV files? It is not working for me.

Also I can't stream anything to my xbox one anymore doesn't work.

.mkv is a container file.

If the Xbox doesn't support the codec(s) inside then that's probably why it isn't playing.

Tempted now by a deal at Tesco Direct which gives a solus and a selected game (including Forza Horizon 2) for £329. Throws in Alien Isolation for free too, which I'd trade in because I already have it on PS4. But that's pretty awesome value, right?

Yeah that's definitely the best deal currently available. Check the trade in value first though, I'd be interested in a cheap(ish) copy.

Yeah but they included the codecs with the latest update.

The Media player preview is total ass though.

"Plex for Xbox One is available on Tuesday, October 7, to Plex Pass premium subscribers for free in the Apps store on Xbox Live. Plex for Xbox 360 will be available very soon. For those without a Plex Pass, Plex for Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be made available in the future for a one-time fee." -

Plex Introduces New Big Screen Direction with Xbox One

Plex announced the release of Plex for Xbox One, its first personal media app launched on any major gaming platform.

Plex today announced the release of Plex for both Xbox One and Xbox 360, its first TV app available on both Xbox gaming platforms, with an updated design that makes it easy to browse and enjoy personal media on the big-screen. The new design, which puts media artwork center stage, as well as incorporates new discovery features, will be brought to big-screen Plex apps in the future. Working with Microsoft, Plex for Xbox also supports Xbox native functionality like voice and gesture controls with Kinect.

“Plex for Xbox is an exciting milestone in our continued effort to help people enjoy their personal media, wherever they happen to keep it, on all of their screens.” says Scott Olechowski, Chief Product Officer and Plex Co-Founder. “It also happens to be the platform most requested by Plex enthusiasts, and we have worked hard to design an experience that will delight them and Xbox fans alike.”

Plex for Xbox One is available on Tuesday, October 7, to Plex Pass premium subscribers for free in the Apps store on Xbox Live. Plex for Xbox 360 will be available very soon. For those without a Plex Pass, Plex for Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be made available in the future for a one-time fee. Visit Plex.tv and read the Plex Blog to learn more about the new Plex apps for Xbox.

Plex for Xbox delivers the following features:

Beautiful New Design

Your Plex Media Server makes your media library look beautiful by automatically collecting and displaying artwork, content ratings, plot summaries, and more for your media. Now, Plex for Xbox provides a new experience in your living room with a bold presentation that feels right at home on Xbox.

Media Discovery

Plex for Xbox introduces new media discovery capabilities to the Plex experience. Plex users will now be presented with customized categories of content based on viewing habits. These customized categories will make it easy to discover new content, enjoy similar content (for example, based on genre or cast) and rediscover content that has not been viewed for a while.
Plex for Xbox also includes fan favorites like On Deck, which keeps track of shows you’re currently watching, allows you to easily continue watching where you left off, and automatically suggests next episodes.

Voice & Gesture Control

Plex for Xbox, combined with Kinect, supports voice and gesture control, allowing users to navigate their Plex media library, view content, and control playback without picking up an Xbox controller.

About Plex:
Plex organizes all your personal media, wherever you keep it, so you can enjoy it on any device. Plex allows effortless streaming of videos, music and photos to a wide range of devices and is compatible with Mac, Windows 8, Linux, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast, many popular NAS devices, and more. I know you can play .mkv files, but that's assuming the video and audio files inside the mkv are compatible with whatever codecs Microsoft let you play on the Xbox.

I have had issues playing mkv files on some cheap mkv players where the video plays but there's no audio. That's usually because the tracks have compression on so simply recreating the mkv without compressed tracks works. It could be a similar problem that you're having.
