Makes sense I suppose since the cloud is MS's focus going forward overall.

I wonder if any of these cloud-based plans are going to be a part of their E3? Would be a great way to show what they have, though I can't help but think it needs another year.

Its all backend stuff isn't it? The sort of thing you'd hear about at BUILD but not at a consumer show like E3.

Yeah it will be to enhance games maybe in the mp space than create games I'd think.

But they've talked before about cloud gaming at E3. They talk services all the time at conferences. Something like an expansion of Game Pass for other platforms wouldn't be too far out for talking about, or what the cloud can do for games - which has been endlessly mentioned whenever Crackdown 3 enters the conversation.

I'm not sure how Game pass could be expanded via the cloud. I mean, your Xbox Live account is held in the cloud as are you saves giving you the ability to save and continue between PC and Xbox One (and between 360 and Xbox One). Crackdown 3 is the only game specifically using the cloud in real time afaik and as I said, maybe future MS games will utilize it to increase draw distances or increase destruction like Crackdown 3's mp. Game pass might come to Windows 10 in the future but it won't be using any tech or could based innovation that it isn't already using.

They were blowing hot air about all of this cloud nonsense years ago when the xbone was first announced, and there’s been no tangible evidence of it being beneficial in anything. Put up or shut up, MS.

I'm gonna presume you mean on Xbox and not across Microsoft.

Well he did mention Xbox so I am guessing that yes that's what he meant.

The cloud talk died a death because they couldn't present it in an exciting way to a mainstream audience. I don't think there's anything in those companies they bought that offers a cool moment at something like E3. Highlighting services that bring an easily explained benefit are one thing, trying to explain how using Azure to dynamically increase the number of servers based on demand from each region in something like Rainbow Six which leads to a reduced maintenance cost is just a bit dull. The people who want that knowledge will seek it out. Use E3 to highlight games and Xbox Live features that people will interact with directly.

It always amazes me when these comapnies dont seem to "get" E3. Yes its a trade show, yes its full of journalists and industry people but at its core is a consumer event, even more so now they actually let consumers in. strawberry float graphs, strawberry float sales figures, strawberry float your cloud, show games, lots of them, make them look cool, youll win E3. Simple formula really.

I can’t think of a single E3 in which anyone showed a graph!

They were bigging it up in Crackdown 3. Development on that game going well.

Do any of you get intermittent lag using Xbox One X over WiFi? I've done a search and it seems to be a fairly widespread problem. At certain times of day the connection is unplayable despite internet speed still being relatively quick.

I'm trying to determine if the problem is the Xbox, Sky router, etc so any help would be appreciated.

Does your router have a ‘5G’ option? Most newer ones do, router needs to be in same room or close to use it tho.

To use 5G or in general? I'd say the router is about 8-10 metres away. It's much closer than my original X1 was in my old house and it was never this bad.

It’s ‘5hz’ not ‘5G’, I think. That’s what my EE router box does.
There’s 2 flavours - 2hz and 5hz. When you scan for networks on your xbone connection wizard, they should both appear as separate on the list that comes up. Choose the 2hz option and see how you get on.
It says in my EE quick start guide here that this 5hz, 5G whatever is faster, but not as reliable.

Yeah it is 5GHz and 2.4GHz

5g is the new mobile technology that will replace 4g and promises some awesome stuff for mobile devices in the future.

5GHz episode much fast but has a far lower range so unless you are very close it will be useless, also Wii U's can conflict with it as the gamepad connects to the U with 5GHz WiFi so if they are on the same channel it will kill your wifi.

Oh, something else - vanilla xbones can’t find the 5ghz version of your wireless network, so if it was more reliable, then it’ll be because it defaulted to the 2.4 version.
