No, it was a joke. A failed one at that. :(

My Xbox One was slow, it wouldn't read a disc or load a game properly. I had to properly turn it off for it to return to normal.

I might have to turn off that quick-start up thing. It's good when it works, though.

edit: Yeeeah turning it off. Would rather put up with slow loading at start (which isn't that slow, honestly) than stuff not loading up properly. Can't even get into settings.

Have you installed all the updates Seven? Mine was like that once, but it was a long tine ago. Couldn't live without quick start now. Especially when combined with 'Xbox On' and facial recognition. :datass:

That shouldn't be happening though, I'd think about getting a replacement. Intantly getting into a game is pretty handy.

All updates were installed when it was on quick start, the settings say there's no updates available.

I don't mind leaving it off quick start since I tend to leave it on all day unless I'm not going to play it for long time then I turn it off. So far it's doing what it's intending to do, I might try quick start again sometime soon, I just want play some games :P

Managed to get my first online gaming moment on Xbox One today, I really need to do more mp too.

Microsoft demos Windows 10 apps running on Xbox One

Microsoft revealed in January that it's is bringing universal apps to the Xbox One, but the company didn't demonstrate how they would look and feel. That changed today at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. Microsoft's technical lead for Windows universal apps, Kevin Gallo, took to the stage during a developer event to demonstrate Windows 10 universal apps on Xbox One. While it wasn't a universal app like Mail or Photos, Gallo demonstrated a demo app designed to run across PCs, phones, and an Xbox One.

It was all part of a broader message to developers that Microsoft is building a scalable and adaptive user interface for Windows 10 to make it easier for universal apps to run across PCs, phones, tablets, and even TV screens via the Xbox One. Gallo didn't expand on when developers will be able to start creating Xbox One apps, but The Verge understands Microsoft is ready to allow any developer to build apps for its gaming console. The software giant will detail its plans at the upcoming Build developer conference in April, and developers should be able to build Xbox One apps during the summer period.

I really want to get a second pad but refuse to do so until Microsoft release some decent official custom design pads. The Militia Titanfall pad is the only decent one, but my friend has that, so I don't want to get the same.

There are so few official custom pads, it's ridiculous! Why don't they just release some in different colours? Is it that difficult?

Rare stuff

Phil Spencer -

EG: You've brought this up a number of times now, so you can't blame me for asking. Battletoads... It's Rare's 30th anniversary this year...

Phil Spencer: Is it? (laughs)

EG: You're going to celebrate it with cupcakes, I'm sure, but what other plans are there?

Phil Spencer: We know it's their 30th anniversary. I can say that. And Rare's a very special studio, and I think I said a couple of months ago that I got to play the prototype they had for their new game.

Gregg Mayles [veteran Rare designer] is someone I've a tonne of respect for. We recognise that it's their 30th year. And that's an important time - without giving away too much.

EG:Is it time to celebrate their heritage?

Phil Spencer: I think it is.

MS Insider verified by Reddit, take with a grain of salt -

Cancelled Conker game and other Rare info

There’s been a little bit of a buzz recently, after Ken Lobb announced that there were plans to revive some older Rare IPs, and a bunch of old Rare guys have come together to do a Banjo successor. I wanted to take this opportunity to share some stuff from when I was working at Microsoft, and I can say that there has been a lot of internal conflict about these old Rare IPs as of late.

I was with MS for several years, and have been tied to a lot of projects, like Sunset Overdrive and was doing a little bit of work for the Master Chief Collection. I wasn’t working on any games per se, but I was in a position where I was able to see a lot of these games and other potential projects in development. From my position, I was able to learn a lot about the relationship between MS and these old Rare IPs, and the one that had the most ‘buzz’ around the office prior to my departure: Conker.

So the Conker IP has been pretty much been stagnant since the Xbox version, and it’s kind of fallen by the wayside. With other IPs, management seems pretty chill in discussing new ideas, but for the longest time Conker was never really on the table for new projects. A lot of people around the office thought that MS didn’t have much faith in the Conker IP. From what I heard, a lot of people thought the style felt really dated, and that the crude humor of it felt too 90’s for modern audiences. That was just rumors and gossip from the staff, some of which have been with the company since the first Xbox came out, so I trusted what they said.

That mostly changed around spring of 2014. All of a sudden, I became flooded with emails and design docs for a new Conker game. Basically, MS wanted to reboot Conker, and was shopping around for developers to make the new game. MS wasn’t comfortable developing it, and Rare DEFINITELY wasn’t making it.

For a while, it really looked like Insomniac would take on the Conker reboot, they were already doing third-party stuff for MS, and they had made a hit platformer series in the past.

However, Insomiac turned MS down too. Apparently MS wanted Conker to hit store shelves by the end of 2015, and Insomiac refused because of the short dev cycle. MS wanted Conker out the door really quickly, because they wanted to reintroduce audiences to a bunch of older IPs that MS were planning on rebooting for 2016-17, like Perfect Dark and Banjo.

The Conker project has been pretty much canned. No one wants to make it, because MS wants to rush it out. I’m not sure if those other reboots will continue as planned, or if they wanna wait for someone to tackle Conker, like I said, I no longer work for MS and have been out of the loop for a little while, but as is, don’t hold your breath for a new Conker game.

Here is an email chain between me and another MS employee, just to show you some of the thoughts of the people at MS after Conker was put on ice. It left a sour taste in people’s mouths, as you can tell.

Kampfheld, MS Dev on GAF -

This is the last comment I will make in a Rare thread prior to E3:

1) if there ever was a chance old-school Rare fans will be satisfied with current Rare-work, this time is this year.
2) that rumor has two legit and one wrong points, which leads me to the impression he just guessed. I don't know for sure tho. Things can change pretty fast in this industry so I can't make a final comment on this one.
3) Classic Rare IPs will return. Yes, more than just Killer Instinct.
4) If you guys aren't somewhat satisfied after E3 .... Kill me with fire.

Rumour -

Microsoft is working on a 'hardcore' game controller for the Xbox One

Microsoft's Xbox One got off to a rough start thanks to a mixed message about the target audience for the device. With that issue behind them, they have returned their focus to the gaming community and now sources are telling us that they are looking to launch a 'hardcore' game controller at E3 2015.

Details are still slim on what all will be included with the controller and how it will be differentiated from its current devices but they are going after their loyal customers who love FPS and driving games. If you need any proof that there is a market for a new controller, take a look at Scuf Gaming who sells a plethora of modified enthusiast controllers.

We are being told that the current target, if the project gets the full green-light, will be for E3 2015 which takes in mid June. As with all internal projects, deadlines are subject to change and they can be canceled at anytime.
