I got excited a bit, then realised it was demo tech ;-;

I know it won't match original but I really love Banjo & Kazooie as characters, and the world.

Social matchmaking service Overdog launches for Xbox One

Find multiplayer partners who share your interests.

Overdog is a new third-party matchmaking service for Xbox One that incorporates Facebook-style profile information to find you multiplayer buddies that share your interests.

Sign up for the free service and you can fill in details on your favourite movies, TV shows, music and sports teams.

You can then search for people who want to play the same games as you - to finish a raid in Destiny, for example - and receive matches that also share similar hobbies.

The idea behind the service is to take away some of the randomness of partying up with other people - and to find folk who aren't a 17-year-old Justin Bieber-loving troll from Texas.

"Instead of gaming with anonymous people in your favourite games (Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, and Madden to name a few), wouldn't you rather game with people you have something in common with?" Overdog's website states.

"Stop letting the console tell you who to play with. Game with people who feel like friends."

Available in closed beta for the last couple of weeks, Overdog is now free to try for all Xbox One owners.

First Wave of Xbox One April System Updates Now in Preview

This month, we’re rolling out updates to our Xbox One Preview program members in two waves, with the first set coming today and more to come next week. Check out the list below for features in this first April system update preview that is starting to roll out this afternoon:

Party chat improvements – Party chat is being improved with troubleshooting guidance for Xbox One owners. The Party App will help you get your microphone enabled and show you when privacy settings or networking issues are blocking communication with particular party members.

Game hub links – Members can more easily discover game hub content from activity feed items. You’ll see activity feed items when any of your friends follow a game, and you’ll also be able to get back to a game’s hub from activity feed posts related to the game – including feed items about the game’s achievements, game clips and screenshots. Finally, we’ve added a link to game hubs from the game’s page in the achievements app.

Achievement notifications – With this preview release, you’ll also see the achievement’s description in the notification so you know what you did to earn this achievement without having to open the achievements app. If you do choose to open up the notification to see the achievement details, we’ve also made some performance improvements to make loading the achievements app from a notification faster.

Stay tuned next week for the second wave with even more great features coming to Xbox One Preview program members. As always, thanks for your feedback.

I'm impressed with how MS are regularly enhancing and adding features to the Xbox One. It feels like they're constantly trying to improve the user experience and keep things fresh.

Yes, but it's also meant to be a bit of a challenge.

Yes, it's very good. Looks gorgeous and the music is lovely. It's deceptively tough, though not to the detriment of how enjoyable it is (so far). Quality is supposed to remain high throughout so I'd recommend it if you're in the mood for a platformer.

Get ready to swear quite a bit though.

Playtonic: 'We know what Rare is working on. We may even collaborate'

The small Midlands studio is building the ‘spiritual successor’ to Nintendo 64 classic Banjo-Kazooie. But the team still has one eye on its old employer, Rare

Fledgling game studio Playtonic, currently working on a “spiritual successor” to classic Nintendo 64 platformer Banjo-Kazooie, says it knows what Rare is working on – and that fans will be satisfied.

Playtonic, formed by six ex-employees of Rare, still has contact with its old employer, which is based only a few miles away.

“I still chat to them, I know what they were working on when I left last year,” says Playtonic’s studio head, Gavin Price, who worked for Rare for 20 years, having joined as a tester in the 1990s. “It sounds really good.”

Xbox chief Phil Spencer has been teasing gamers by suggesting that Rare may be about to move away from the Kinect Sports titles onto an IP more befitting the team’s skills and heritage. Last year, the exec tweeted that he had played the studio’s new project, claiming it was an example of “Rare building a uniquely Rare game, as it should be.” In January, Rare’s head of music Robin Beanland tweeted that 2015 would be a huge year for Rare and made a reference to Banjo-Kazooie.

“I want them to do well,” says Price. “They’re mates and we left them behind to come and do this. I’m looking forward to what they’re doing next – people will be really happy to see it.” Asked whether it would be a Kinect-focused title, like the studio’s other recent projects, he replied: “I can’t say for sure what they are or aren’t doing with that piece of hardware that Microsoft isn’t supporting much anymore.”

On the subject of old Rare, the popular story is that when Microsoft took control of the studio, it restricted the team’s creativity, and insisted on a more corporate approach, killing the unique atmosphere. Playtonic denies this.

“For me, it was more about [Rare founders] Tim and Chris Stamper leaving,” says Playtonic technical director Jens Restemeier, who worked at Rare handling handheld conversions of key titles. “There was no sense of progression about what the company was going to do from that point on. The story people want to hear is that Microsoft came in and destroyed everything. It wasn’t like that. They gave us freedom, almost more freedom than Nintendo gave us.”

Bloody horror Battle Royale will be free to watch this weekend on Xbox One, courtesy of Final Fantasy publisher Square Enix.

The offer will be available to all UK Xbox Live subscribers to celebrate the launch of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

Why? Well, both feature school kids and violence...?

You don't need to have bought the game to watch the film for free - just find it via the Xbox store anytime this Saturday 28th, or Sunday 29th March.

360 owners are getting some cracking deals. I sometimes wish I'd have held off from new-gen for a lot longer.

I already own Pure Pool but Pool Nation will do nicely.

I'm hoping Solar retro RPG thing will be free soon also.

Hmm, never played Gears, but might get 1-3 to blitz through as they're less than £2 each on 360 now, and will download Judgement because why not. Not fussed about Terraria, but will give it a go. Might try black flag, but I have it on PC anyway, and apparently Devil's Cartel is utter gooseberry fool, but might try that for a laugh.

Child of Light isn't even worth the time spent waiting for it to download. Imagine a game which only exists to fuel the writer's ego.
