Thanks chaps, I'll try and find the 2Ghz range. Are there any tests I can do to find where the weak link is?

Not to trigger xbots like Photek, but my PS4 Pro connects to 5Ghz no problem from a similar distance you’re describing. So...try a PS4 Pro on it, if you can? It’d help to determine what’s flakey, the Xbone X or the router-box.

The PS4 pro has been ropey as well to be honest. The thing is that downloads are great, especially on Sky Q and streaming works really well. I know that multiplayer gaming isn't the same thing but it's weird that it's so gooseberry fool.

This year's E3 will be too early to reveal a new product, although the quotes make me think the next Xbox may have this capability in some way. However Xbox Game Pass titles being available to stream would be a great way to demonstrate the technology. Just before Christmas I did the 1 week trial of PlayStation Now. Whilst there were not that many must-have titles (although still a reasonable selection) what I found absolutely excellent was that I could choose a game and relatively instantly, I think less than a minute, I would be playing it. No need to download, no need to wait, no need to have HDD space. I think if Xbox Game Pass owners are able to do this it would immediately increase engagement because it would mean more games are played. Then if Xbox Game Pass could become available on non Xbox consoles that would be a big deal.

Some routers will have a signal strength page and it’ll show you all the traffic in the area (neighbours) so you can see what frequency people are using

I had massive problems with the launch Xbox One between the network connection and controller connection. Googling it showed it was quite a common problem and Microsoft had no answer for a fix other than replace the console until you got one that worked. My X seems to have escaped the issue thankfully

I have the S and it works fine on 5 and 2.4 odds are it is more likely that router is using a channel others are using and getting interference, usually rebooting the router is enough for it to pick a new channel assuming it is on auto and not set to a specific channel.

There are a few apps that will let you see on your phone what networks are around and the channel they are on so you could use one of those to see what everyone else is on and set yours to an u used channel.

Routers will basically ramp up their power to try and best other networks on the same channel so if your router is weaker another routers WiFi could be killing it. BT hubs are very good at flattening everyone else, sky I think is weaker or at least it was then I was with Sky.

I've come from BT to Sky so I think I'm seeing the difference. Having said all that I tried it again at about 11.30 and it was perfect.

I wonder if SkyQ has an effect?

Could be, anything that uses a 5GHz WiFi could intefere if the Xbox is on 5GHz

I had a look and there wasn't a different option for the same router. Can you tell what frequency it's connected from any of the other information?

The weird thing is sometimes it works perfectly when the missus is on the laptop and using the Sonos speakers and other times nothing is connected other than the bone and it's laggy as gooseberry fool. I'm wondering if something is set to record on Sky Q if the router priorities that over everything else. The only thing that is fairly consistent is that it's around early evening it goes to gooseberry fool.

Maybe Sky is really popular in your neck of the woods and it’s struggling a bit? It’d explain your early evening woes.

You may be able to on the routers web page but I don't know their software so can't tell for sure.

How does A work doesn't it recordvia the dish so wouldn't use WiFi at all to do it or does it recorded on the box you set it on?

It sounds like an issue for sky support which will be a bitcj to sort, you may want to get some power line adapters and put the Xbox on Ethernet

Does anyone have a link to that site which tracks how much time you've spent playing Xbox games over the past 12 months? Someone posted it a while back to see what we played during 2017 but I can't recall where.

Microsoft testing Gaming Rentals over the store?

Image

It says: 69 Reais (21 dollars) each 3 months. Always good to have more options.

When I went to download Sea of Thieves last night it had "owned" on there for me which was odd with no purchasing options, where as if I went to a games page from the game pass I could "install" or buy it etc.

I can't believe how bad the app and website are for looking at the Xbox store. The Playstation app is so easy to navigate.

Geniuenly considering getting shot of the 'Bone. If it wasn't for backwards compatibility and me naively believing that my friends might get back into gaming it would be gone by now. Other than games looking slightly better and the X1X being a fantastic looking box there is no reason to own one.

I think you should get rid too man. Honestly.

Maybe you could trade it in for a switch/PS4 Pro?

I was really hoping the AC Origins season pass would be on sale. :(

Why would you suggest that?
