Appreciate your clarification if you can pls..thx

1. Settings > Personalisation > My Home Xbox. Fairly straightforward from there.
2. That's right, buy it in your account, sign in on the other console and download it there too. You'll only be able to access it if you're signed in on that console, or if it's set to your Home Xbox. It's not important which console you download it on, in fact you can buy in on xbox.com if you prefer.
3. Correct, you need a Gold sub to play any online multiplayer at all, even between the two consoles. I'd recommend it, with the Games With Gold and other bonuses it's definitely worth the money.

EDIT - Hang on, you mean play local multiplayer FIFA? Of course you'll be able to do that!

Thanks again. Re 3, I don't plan on buying Gold unless have to. I pay for PSN just so I can dip.in online if I want to (a rarity) and so I can play all my 'free' PS Plus games.

Not fussed about GWG purely cos I don't have the time for my PS games let alone doubling the quantity. My boys aren't interested in anything other than Fifa with very occasional Peggle or Minecraft or PvZ so Gold isn't required by them either.
If I can get away without buying Gold but both XB1consoles will allow offline Single Player and offline local multiplayer matches then we're all fine with that.

Sounds like if I buy Fifa 18 on my Gamertag and download onto both consoles then both consoles can play at the same time, both in SP or local multiplayer mode. I just need to set 1 console as Home and the other one my profile needs to be the active one to play it even as a Silver XBL member

That's it exactly. If in the future they decide they want to play online then you only need to buy one Gold account for everyone, but it's absolutely not necessary to get the setup you describe.

Saw Game have got several XB1X bundles up as you'd expect but they are doing one without any games if anyone is just upgrading from an XB1/S? Just £497.99 ( ) for XB1X, controller, 3 months XBL gold

Other half let cat out of the bag that she's getting me an X1X for my birthday. (it launches 2 days after)

The small caveat that she can actually get one...

This is a major plus for me cos my 7year old is getting my original X1 when I have my X1X. Now, if we are to play say, Sea of Thieves or something together, do I have to buy 2 copies?

Not if you buy it digitally, no.

Is anybody else hoping that Photek’s missus doesn’t know much about consoles and ends up buying him a PS4 Pro? ;)

Not if you buy it digitally, no.

So is Gold tied to a console or a profile? Or both, sort of?
I thought it was profile (Gamertag) so any console I signed in would allow me to play Online? But under the 2 consoles in 1 house scenario with kids using 1 console under their own Gamertags and me on a separate console on my Gamertag, surely we can't all be using Gold Live at the same time can we? I'm getting really confused on this now

It works the same way digital content worked on the 360

Games and Gold are tied to both

The Xbox Live account
The "home" Xbox hardware

So...

Xbox (1) & Main Account = access everything and gold member privileges

Xbox (2) and Secondary Account = if Xbox (2) is set to "home console" of the "Main Account", all secondary accounts playing on that console can access Gold online play and any digital content (games and DLC)

You can have multiple "Main Accounts" set to the same "home console"

Or you could do it in reverse so both accounts can access the others content

It's called Home Gold, and is a new feature for Xbox One. Your Gold account can be shared with up to ten other profiles.

http://support.xbox.com/en-GB/xbox-one/ ... g-features

If you do the gamesharing I described a few posts ago you can absolutely play against each other on two consoles with one account.

I think I get you but the "main accounts" talk is confusing me now. Sorry :shifty:
The 3 gamertags in our family are mine, plus 2 separate ones for my boys (with own separate email addresses for all 3 of us). They are registered as Child accounts with Microsoft I believe.

They will share the new X1S and will want to play FIFA 18 against each other on the same console mostly. From previous advice I believe I have to set their console as the Home XB1. I have already set their console up with all 3 gamertags. I plan on buying FIFA 18 digitally so we can share it on both consoles.

My console will be used mainly by me with the occasional local MP game against them, or maybe the odd dabble into Live.

So, if I was to buy 1 Gold sub on my Gamertag, and as my gamertag exists on both consoles, then both consoles could use Gold and at the same time too?
What is the "main account"? Is it mine as the parent? How do I designate it as a main account and indeed why do I need to ?

Sorry for all the questions

Thx for the link. It seems to confirm the above but as it doesn't mention main accounts I'm looking for the above confirmation

Yeah, the 'main' account in this instance would be yours. Sign into the kids console (let's call this console B), and set it as your home Xbox. Then download all the games you want them to have access to. All accounts on here should now have Live access for any game.

On console A only your profile will have access to games unless you are also signed in. You'll have full online access and will be able to play games against the kids profiles on console B.

It's difficult to explain via the medium of text, but I'm sure it'll become clear when you start setting things up.

Profile A owns Halo digitally and is the 'main' account for Halo
Profile B owns FIFA digitally and is the 'main' account for FIFA

Profile B can play both games for free if Profile A sets profile b's Xbox as their Home console. Profile A could only play their game when connected online to Live (this includes single player games), Profile B could play the game online or offline.

This can also be done vice versa so Profile A can play Profile B's game (but the online/offline connection requirement is reversed obviously)
