Anybody know the reason why in the last couple of days, been getting quite a few updates for several Xbox 360 games, Doom 2, Ikaruga, Torchlight etc?

Seems a bit strange to get an update after all this time.

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?

I think the 360 can only store so many games updates (it's held in a different storage location to any game/dlc on the HDD).

If you haven't played a game for a while then that's likely why it popped up, because it's since been overwritten with another games title update.

I must admit that I've not heard of this. I've got quite a few 360 games on my hard drive... I wasn't aware of any limitation in the number of title updates that can be stored (beyond the size of the hard drive, of course).

Ah, I think I got hold of the wrong end of the stick here - I'd thought we were talking about Xbox 360 game updates on actual 360 consoles, not the XBO. Sorry!

The 360 handled updates differently and in the early days had a strict size limit (which is why in the later days games started bundling their updates with free DLC... ie get a free car, or weapon etc while the rest of the download was for bug fixes and content for the people who paid to unlock the rest of the cars etc)

The limit has since been removed (which is why there was an uproar after MS had sold so many Xbox's without a HDD which meant some people couldn't play the latest games at the time without purchasing a HDD peripheral)

but...

It sounds like it's Xbox 360 games on Xbox 1 so what I said is completely irrelevant.

Maybe during testing it's been found these games don't play nice with a future OS update, or the new Xbox 1 X hardware itself and these patches are just to stop a crash etc.

ie don't expect a 4k update.

more heat than light wrote:Yeah, the 'main' account in this instance would be yours. Sign into the kids console (let's call this console B), and set it as your home Xbox. Then download all the games you want them to have access to. All accounts on here should now have Live access for any game.

On console A only your profile will have access to games unless you are also signed in. You'll have full online access and will be able to play games against the kids profiles on console B.

It's difficult to explain via the medium of text, but I'm sure it'll become clear when you start setting things up.

Great. I get it now :fp:
Also Thx BID0.

I'd forgotten I've bought Halo5 digitally too in the past but your post reminded me of that. Looks like my boys will have some more XB1 games to play at Xmas :toot:

That could be it! Does that mean the next new dashboard update is imminent? :o

For back compat games they update an emulator, seeing as the X1X will run the emulator in an apparent upgraded fashion (going by reports), older games may need a small patch to run.

In other news, they are working on Fable Anniversary for BC.

A question to you fine folks, my father in law has gotten his grandkids an Xbox one Minecraft bundle for Xmas, he's an organised man apparently. Now I've agreed to get it all ready, patch it, download the game etc, my question is can I do this without signing in or creating an account? I know you need an account to tie the game to but can I download it then let them 'claim' it when the first fire it up?

My instinct tells me ill have to create an account for them and use that to patch the console and download the game but some kind of anonymous download and patch option would be cool.

So my missus has busted my turtle beach headset :x I need a new one, any recommendations? Could do with it working on a PS4 as well? Nothing over £100 ta.

apparently it isn't confirmed and might be fake, but pretty cool if true as I was going to buy someone in my family the LotR game so now I can just lend them my Live account

A touch lacking in genre variety, but some great titles there.

I recommend not reading too much into these kinds of leaks, they pop up this time every month and are almost always fake.

I thought the Shadow or Mordor sequel was already out but apparently that's October 10th, so it's highly unlikely they would give out practically the same (better from what I've heard) game for free within the same week almost. So it's likely fake, sorry for posting :fp:
