I'm confused still why we have these threads .Sales really aren't important are they? Shouldn't you buy a console based on what you want and games you enjoy and what you think is more appealing .

Umm, well yeah. Sony, MS and Nintendo aren't in the business for their health.

If a console doesn't sell then its going to be in trouble and then won't get the games you enjoy...so you might say its somewhat important.

I don't think there's anything wrong with paying attention to sales. I don't think anyone enjoys a console or game less because it's selling poorly. A lot of people I know fell out of love with Nintendo after the Gamecube. That console flopped, and caused the company to make a pretty drastic change in the type of games they made, and some people think it's worth watching out for these kinds of trends.

If anything, seeing games like Bayonetta 2 flop just make me enjoy the game even more as I know I probably won't be getting another one, so I need to savour it.

My only problem with sales threads is that fanboy wars that happen within them, I mean the state of this thread in the earlier pages.

Sales do drive competition in the market that leads to price cuts and innovation. If the X1 was selling like the PS4 or at least more than it then MS wouldnt have changed that much from what it launched but because of sales the X1 has become infinitley better than it was originally planned and to me at least is starting to get near the 360 as my fave console ever.

Man reading back in this thread is hilarious, Microsoft are in big trouble apparently despite Xbox being a tiny (and I mean TINY) part of its overall business, also many claims of no way Microsoft could outsell the PS4 in 2014 in any country laughing at Halo's MCC apparant 'lack of draw'.

Breathe easy man, PS4 outsold the Xbox One in 2014 both ww and in the US, The Xbox One outsold the PS4 in November and December, something which you said wouldnt happen a few pages ago in this thread.
