As I understand it, the PSP: 185k. Apparently, Sony's target is 250k.

Well whatever happens I expect it to shift more than the PS3 did. It's the holiday season and the console is actually appealing.

PostRe: The Xbox One sales Thread - 364k sold in the UK in 2013
by Monkey Man » Wed Jan 01, 2014 2:10 am

PS4 and Xbox One posted incredible sales figures in the UK, with Sony coming out on top.

PlayStation 4 has sold 530,000 units in the UK in just five weeks, according to ERA (using Chart-Track data), while Xbox One has sold 364,000 units. It's a significant gap between the two competitors, although both numbers are significantly higher than any previous console launch.

PS4 hardware sales generated £181.8m on the UK High Street, while Xbox One made £144.5m. Together, that means the UK market made over £326m from next-gen console sales.

ERA director general Kim Bayley said, “Games continues to deliver digital sales strongly, but it was disappointing that Xbox One and PS4 came so late in 2013 and then huge demand meant stock sold out quickly. Retailers will be working hard in 2014 to maintain the sales momentum of these two great new pieces of kit.”

Thanks to you, 2013 was an incredible year for gamers, entertainment fans, our industry and Xbox. With Xbox One we saw the most epic launch for Xbox by all measures. We are humbled and grateful for your loyalty and delighted by the millions of hours of gameplay and entertainment enjoyed on Xbox.

Together, we ushered in a new era of games and entertainment with Xbox One. Over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013. It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honored to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the U.S. during our launch month in November. Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible.

The reaction from our fans was mind-blowing for our team. As we see your excitement, your energy and your hours of gameplay, we continue to be inspired to do great work – for you. Whether you’re racing through the streets of Prague in “Forza Motorsport 5,” creating crazy weapons for zombie destruction in “Dead Rising 3,” exploring the Colosseum in Gladiator mode in “Ryse: Son of Rome,” helping your children create their own personal zoo in “Zoo Tycoon,” or enjoying epic multiplayer battles, we love that you’re having fun on Xbox One.

We also love that you are seeing the promise of an all-in-one entertainment system. Millions of hours of live TV have been watched and millions of hours of app entertainment have been enjoyed. We are proud to have the most passionate, engaged, and simply the best fans in the world. It was fun to share the holidays with so many of you.

We’re excited for the year ahead and will be working hard to bring Xbox One to more fans and more markets around the globe. 2014 will be a promising year with many more great games on the way for Xbox One including “Titanfall,” “Watch_Dogs,” “Project Spark,” “Sunset Overdrive,” “Tom Clancy’s The Division,” “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt,” “Destiny,” “Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare,” and “The Elder Scrolls Online,” among others. More games, more features, more content, more fun – all coming your way this year.

Thank you for making 2013 truly epic for Xbox and here’s to 2014!

Xbox says it won't be updating sales numbers again until Jan 23 w/ earnings announcement. Not sure what that means for NPD numbers.

Amazing numbers. Shame they're still peddling the fastest selling console bollocks.

Yep. Doubly so claims that it's still sold out, which at this stage is transparently false. I also wouldn't be too surprised if they are trying to sneak in front of Sony's CES conference tonight, where Sony will probably announce worldwide figures for the PS4. I would not be surprised if Sony announced 3.5 mill sold.

It was, though. It launched a week later in November.

Granted, still behind the PS4 total sales.

To be fair, given the awful launch build up, I'm amazed it's only 25% behind.

Eh, it's closer to 30%. (3/4.2=0.71 ish) Or put it another way, the PS4 is 40% ahead of the Xbone. (4.2/3=1.4) Percentages, how do they work?

And it's available in less countries.

But good news that both are selling well.

Yep, considering the stumbles that MS made in showcasing the Xbox One it's pretty amazing that they've achieved such good sales. Probably demonstrates that the bulk of gaming consumers didn't know about the stumbles and they're not interested in them; the power of the Xbox brand was enough to achieve great sales.

I made a rough guess... 4mill v 3 mill to make the numbers easier.

Bone v PS4 is ~ (3/4) x 100 (I.e bone sold 75% of PS4 sales)

Or PS4 has sold 4/3 (133%) of xbone sales.

Stats stats stats and lies, you can tweak the 'answer' depending on context. Best way to do it is absolute sales, so PS4 is (4/7) x 100 and bone is (3/7) x 100.

I don't like decimals, I like rounding, it's your friend.

Nowhere near, we had PS4 winning 3:1, which will probably happen once Sony sort out their supply issues.

PostRe: The Xbox One sales Thread - 3.9m shipped in 2013
by Monkey Man » Thu Jan 23, 2014 9:43 pm

MS Q2 results (Oct to Dec 13):-

The company sold 7.4 million Xbox console units into the retail channel, including 3.9 million Xbox One consoles and 3.5 million Xbox 360 consoles.

Xbox sold 7.4 million consoles

-3.9 million Xbox One consoles sold in just 5 weeks

-Xbox One was the leading console in the U.S. for the month of December according to NPD Group

-3.5 million Xbox 360 consoles sold

Surface

-Surface revenue of $893 million

-Revenue and units more than doubled sequentially with improved Surface RT sales and the introduction of Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2

Gross margin

Launch of Xbox One contributed to gross margin decline

D&C Hardware revenue increased $1.9 billion or 68%, due primarily to $1.2 billion or 54% higher Xbox Platform revenue. Surface revenue was $893 million for the three months ended December 31, 2013. Xbox Platform revenue increased due to the release of Xbox One. We sold 7.4 million Xbox consoles during the second quarter of fiscal 2014, compared with 5.9 million Xbox consoles during the second quarter of fiscal year 2013. Surface revenue increased due to higher number of units sold, including sales of Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2.

D&C Hardware gross margin decreased $351 million or 46%, due to a $2.3 billion or 111% increase in cost of revenue, offset in part by higher revenue. Xbox Platform cost of revenue increased $1.6 billion. Surface cost of revenue was $932 million for the three months ended December 31, 2013. Xbox Platform cost of revenue increased due mainly to higher volumes of consoles sold and additional costs associated with the release of Xbox One. Surface cost of revenue increased with higher volumes sold, including sales of Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2.

I guess that formally kills off the "yield issues" stuff, although 3.9 million Xbones manufactured doesn't sound quite as nice as 4.2 million PS4s sold. Does also raise questions of whether Microsoft has satisfied launch demand, considering they have approximately 900k units on shop shelves worldwide.

[Edit] Updated UK numbers: including charts of the year.

Together the next-gen devices sold almost 900,000 units (530,000 PS4s and 364,000 Xbox Ones)

Really amazing figures, especially when you consider the terrible press the Xbox one has had since it was announced in May.

All that talk about poor yeilds was obviously rubbish as well.
