There has been so much criticism of Xbox One, the so-called missteps that Microsoft has made, the 24 Hour DRM check-in, the no-used games policy, the accusations of a lower spec. But throughout the hard times, we believed. The good news today, the GREAT news -it's overwhelming. We knew this day would come - but it's been so hard.

Devices and Consumer revenue grew 8% to $12.9 billion, with the following business highlights:

· Surface revenue of $1.1 billion, up 24%, driven by Surface Pro 3 and accessories

· Office 365 Home and Personal subscribers increased to over 9.2 million, up 30% sequentially over prior quarter

· Search advertising revenue grew 23%, with Bing U.S. market share at 19.7%, up 150 basis points over prior year

· Xbox console sales totaled 6.6 million units, with strong holiday season performance

· Phone Hardware revenue of $2.3 billion, with 10.5 million Lumia units sold driven by growth in affordable smartphones

· Windows OEM Pro revenue declined 13%; revenue was impacted by the business PC market and Pro mix returning to pre-Windows XP end of support levels and by new lower-priced licenses for devices sold to academic customers

· Windows OEM non-Pro revenue declined 13%, with license growth from opening price point devices

Should also note that the 6.6mil figure is down from last year (7.4mil), although most of the difference is due to the 360 dying a death. More importantly is the 20% fall in Xbox platform revenue, which is probably due to the price cut and Black Friday fire sale.

Assuming that there's a lag of two months between the console leaving the factory and the console getting sold, I'd guesstimate that the Xbone would be at about 10.5-11 million sold.

Thus far, the Xbone is doing comparable to the 360, while the PS4 is doing comparable to the Wii. I'd expect both to fall noticeably behind their comparisons over the course of this year.

1.6m Xbox's shipped last quarter -

The firm said the 30% growth in the Xbox Live service was “driven by increased users and deeper user engagement” and contributed to company wide revenues of $21.7 billion. Xbox Live users increased by 18%.

Xbox Platform revenue decreased $306 million or 24%, driven by a 20% decline in console volume and lower prices of Xbox One consoles compared to the prior year. The firm moved 1.6 million Xbox consoles during Q3 compared with 2 million year-over-year.

For the nine months ended March 31, compared to the same period in 2014, Computing and Gaming Hardware revenue increased $499 million or 6%, primarily due to higher revenue from Surface, offset in part by lower revenue from Xbox Platform.

Xbox Platform revenue decreased $471 million or 8%, driven by lower prices of Xbox One consoles compared to the prior year, as well as a decrease in second and third-party video games revenue.

Microsoft sold 10.7 million Xbox consoles during the first nine months of FY15, which is a 100,000 unit increase compared with 10.6 million consoles during the same period in 2014.

Computing and Gaming Hardware gross margin, which is the difference between revenue and cost, increased $479 million or 55%, mainly due to higher revenue. Computing and Gaming cost of revenue was flat. Xbox Platform cost of revenue decreased $138 million or 3%, mainly due to lower cost per console sold.

For Q3, Computing and Gaming Hardware revenue decreased $72 million or 4%, primarily due to lower revenue from the Xbox Platform. Microsoft said part of the decline was due to “unfavorable foreign currency impact of approximately 4%.”

Cost of revenue decreased, primarily due to a $265 million or 27% decline in Xbox Platform cost of revenue, driven by lower volumes and a lower cost per console sold.

Despite the lower Q3 sales of Xbox consoles, and rather flat nine-month sales, revenue for company’s Device and Consumer business, which houses Xbox, grew $9 billion or 8% to $1.3 billion over the last nine months, thanks to Surface Pro, Xbox Live, first-party video games, Minecraft, and Office 365 Consumer.

For Q3, the Device and Consumer division reported $456 million, an increase of 25%, partly due to higher revenue from Xbox Live, first-party video games and Minecraft.

Xbox Live and other store transaction revenue increased $144 million or 32% thanks to Xbox Live transaction revenue. First-party video games and Minecraft revenue also increased, mainly due to sales of Minecraft following the acquisition of Mojang.

For the nine months, store transaction revenue, which includes Xbox Live, increased $315 million or 25%, primarily due to growth in Xbox Live transaction revenue, driven by increased users and revenue per user.

First-party video games and Minecraft revenue increased $305 million or 83%, mainly due to sales of Minecraft and new Xbox titles released in the current year.

1.4m Xbox's shipped last quarter, up 300k on last year -

Computing and Gaming Hardware revenue increased $591 million or 44%, driven by higher Surface and Xbox Platform revenue. Gross margin increased $417 million, and benefitted from the mix shift to Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3.

· Surface revenue increased 117% to $888 million, driven by Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 units sold. We launched Surface Pro 3 and Surface 3 in June 2014 and May 2015, respectively.

· Xbox Platform revenue increased $86 million or 10%, driven by higher volumes of consoles sold, offset in part by lower prices of Xbox Ones sold. We sold 1.4 million consoles in the fourth quarter compared to 1.1 million consoles during the prior year.

· Computing and Gaming Hardware revenue included an unfavorable foreign currency impact of approximately 6%.

. Xbox Live transactions revenue increased $205 million or 58%, reflecting increased users and revenue per user.

. First-party video games revenue increased $63 million or 62%. We acquired the Minecraft gaming franchise in November 2014.

For the full financial year, they're up 400k. The good news is that the Xbone has covered the continued decline of the 360. On the other hand, 12 million worldwide for both consoles for the whole year looks below par for the number two console. Still ahead of the 360 launch-aligned, though.

Are MS deliberately not showing the breakdown between 360 and XBO or am I missing something? Did try to look at the link but Neogaf doesn't seem to work very well on my laptop.

Yes?

MS is deliberately not showing the breakdown between the 360 and Xbone. I'm guessing they're trying to make Xbone and PS4 shipment comparisons more flattering.
