Let's get back to the beefburger and controller discussion, more interesting.

Because the other areas are growing much faster.

Ah yes, that extra 2% in EMEA makes it grow much faster.

Annnyway.... Glad Phil has turned things around in the US even though the US economy is a disaster, the worst.

Was that "the worst" bit a Trumpism? If so, brilliant

Alright, a couple of things.

a) Why are you defending him?

and

b) No, he was on about Xbox in general.

You should know by now that Nick doesn't limit his MS bashing to only the UK.

I'm not defending him. I just thought he was on about the UK market, that's all.

Just my two cents but I think the Xbox is doing fine, 26 million isn't a bad number it's just cause the PS4 is on another level that it's blown out of proportion by the fanboys and whatnot.

Do you often contemplate the complexity of life?

The first week sales of Xbox One X is over 80,000 in the UK, GamesIndustry.biz can reveal.

Retailers have shared data that reveal that Microsoft's new super-powered console has sold as many units in its first week as Nintendo Switch did in March (hardware figures are up-weighted 20%. Xbox One X raw data is at 67,000).

It's first week sales are also well ahead of PS4 Pro, which did a little over 50,000 back in November 2016. Indeed, it took PS4 Pro four weeks to reach the same number.

Of course, stock shortages of both PS4 Pro and Switch will have impacted the performance of those machines.

The majority of sales were for the special Project Scorpio version of the machine.

It's a pleasing performance for Microsoft, which has had a quiet year in terms of new Xbox products so far.

That’s a very impressive start, especially at the relatively high price point. I suspect that sales are being driven by existing One owners upgrading rather than people moving across from other formats but, even so, that is a cracking launch. I hope that Xbox can continue to put more pressure on PlayStation as the competition will be good for owners of either machine :) .

Switch seemed like a pain in the arse to get hold of for weeks after launch if you hadn't preordered.

How did it perform compared to current gen OG XBX's week 1 sales?

The Pro was out of stock for months. It was tricky to get hold of when Horizon came out.

The Switch was even worse and I think in the US it's been much worse than the stock situation over here.

Good to see the X doing well.

Like the Pro, the X doesn't need a certain number of sales to survive (due to it working with the base console games) so as an owner, sales shouldn't be a concern.

That's OK then. Nick's a very concerned non-owner.

Very impressive, good to see.

I'll make the jump eventually but don't play XB1 enough to warrant currently and the price tag is scary.

The price tag is the only thing stopping me at the moment, although I admit it is a decent price for the hardware you're getting. I've just recently bought a Switch + accessories + games which is probably enough spending on gaming for me for now...

Once again I am surprised - I had thought you would be an early adopter of the X, Garth :o . I can see your thinking... I got a Pro last December and then, after holding out for seven weeks post launch, I got a Switch.

I would love to own an X but, for me, there is no way I am paying out on three systems and subscriptions. I’d have to “drop” either Sony or Nintendo if I were to move back to Microsoft. The backwards compatibility and raw power are attractive, but it will remain a dream for the foreseeable future.

Only thing stopping me from "upgrading" my console is all the chatter about PS5 and Nextbox being "half steps". So I've figured, that, if I don't upgrade now, and instead wait on the next gen proper, I'll get my full gen console leap.
