(no idea why article mentions Sony at all tbh) :dread:

probably because the Pro can't run native 4K on anything other than last gen upgrades or smaller games.

Might have to put KK on ignore like Nick. ;)

I'm quite surprised at a mod being so Pro Sony in an X1 thread, or am I?.

On multiformat games it begs the question how improved and optimised the games are going to be over their PS4 Pro counterpart. Surely it defeats the whole purpose of paying anywhere between £150 to £250 more depending on what you're upgrading from if it's just going to do the same faux-4K. Not that there's anything wrong with fake 4K, but this is being sold on being a step above that.

This is where Microsoft need a raft of their own exclusives, & why it's somewhat of a dangerous game to get into a pixel/resolution war if you can't then deliver it for the majority of games.

i'm sure you will need to have some kind of Faux-4K when running engines designed for 900p like assassins. just that Faux-4k will look so much better on X over any other console.

If the DF report is right it at least means I'll have 2 years with Xbox X being the lead console platform before we see any next gen and it may even be 3 years. The main thing to upgrade is the CPU so it'll be interesting to see how PC CPU's do over the next few years and what's available at a price that can be put into a $500 console with a meaty GPU.

How did you come to that conclusion, care to point out a quote?

I think they used that test plan for the 360 and it didn't end too well...

So I had to send a few 360's back to Microsoft because they died :shifty: .
Surely they won't make that mistake again.

Erm, the Xbox X will be the most powerful console and the PS5 doesn't look like there's any hope of it being released in the next 2 years is it really that difficult to understand?
What exactly do you find controversial about what I said?

You said "If DF is right" but you don't have a single quote.

The lead platform has ALWAYS been the one with the largest market share, this generation that's the base PS4, and that will be the case up until the end of the generation.

Anything else is wishful thinking.

You seem pretty upset, Nick.

Have a seat on the couch and let's see what's bothering you.

 I think PC meant 1X would be the most powerful piece of console tech out there, but Nick saw lead console platform and thought PC meant lead development platform and... proceeded to gooseberry fool the bed. I mean y'know, even if PC did mean lead dev console, calm down, Nick!

Consoles hold back PC ambitions too. I remember a lot of people here complaining towards the end of last gen that PS3/360 were holding back PC gaming.

While developers can up the resolution/framerate/textures on PC they still have to develop with consoles in mind. A console generation leap is good for PC gamers too.

But PCs don't have generations. People just buy new, more powerful pieces of hardware every now and then and eventually the older stuff just runs games worse or doesn't work any more.

If only there were some way to try something similar on consoles.
