I said God damn.

Glad they're moving on from the Flopbox as soon as. They couldn't compete with what they currently have.

They aren't moving on, this is all the 'Xbox One Family', no one gets left behind.

The end of generations.

I'd imagine this thing is going to be expensive...PS3 expensive. Basically as powerful as a PC with a 1070 in it.

Interesting that they didn't announce a partnership with any particular VR company I thought.

It would be pretty awesome if it supports multiple VR options.

Definitely. All that talk about POWER (roar!); I'm anticipating a price around £549 to £599.

Maybe, that would be a risk though. I guess it stamps it as the proper high end of console gaming (they need to bundle an Elite controller).

I wouldn't be surprised if its a little less than that though, £450ish perhaps. Remember that tech is really expensive now, but then they aren't launching now, its another 18 months away.

That's a good point. I still think it'll be very steep; I wouldn't be surpised by a £550 price ticket.

So is this still AMD chips? They have the R9 480 but if MS are to be believed this is a little more powerful.

I suppose times have moved on but I remember the Amiga 1200 being £400 so £550 today doesn't seem that outrageous to me.

Thing is, I'm happy with the way my games look already, if devs can't use this power for other features in games then I see no point in the upgrade

Am I missing something?

Same here.
It was one of the few machines I had left after I got burgled and they swiped a 20 year collection of machines. It's why I'm now not that bothered about having a collection.

Do you remember Atari 2600 games costing £60 each that was bloody stupid.

Bloody hell, that sucks, Peter. Burglers really are scum.

It was a while ago and I was more pissed of by my Mum having her jewellery stollen.
It puts things in perspective and I'm less bothered about my stuff now.

Assuming that backwards compatibility holds, the transition towards incremental console generations means that ecosystems and game collections become a large factor. The big problem Microsoft faces is convincing people to abandon their PS4 games collection. That, I suspect, will be a far larger problem than they anticipate. Likewise, I can see Sony having similar issues convincing Xbox users. I suspect the end result would be that incremental console generations will cement the current status quo, which would be disastrous for Microsoft.

I would be surprised if they supported the Vive. Certainly, Oculus certainly doesn't.

Unconfirmed, but it would be a safe assumption.

No. I only remember Atari VCS games costing £30, with the exception of one space game that came with an odd controller for about £45. Atari must have loved it when Activision arrived on the scene with £10 games.

So how near to that snazzy new 1080 pc graphics card will that make this?
Has the 1080 been benchmarked?
