At game.co.uk, the product description says "Games play better on Xbox One X. Experience 40% more power than any other console.". Is the OX really going to be 40% more powerful than the PS4 Pro? :o .

Ah.. the Nintendo school of "selling out" to create demand. As much as I'm excited about the One X, that does seem a suspiciously short amount of time.

It's still available for pre-order.
I managed to grab one while playing Wildlands with Ric and Studawg.

Its not sold out, they've just made the standard Xbox One X unavailable so that all preorders are for the Project Scorpio Edition.

I think it is sold out on Amazon... the Scorpio Edition is marked up as currently unavailable. The Standard Edition hasn't, I believe, actually been available at all yet.

For multiformat titles there's no evidence (yet) and I can't see developers coming anywhere close to that 40% boost, but for things like Forza 7 I'd say it's a pretty tangible leap. I watched some of the gameplay in 4K HDR on my TV, and it's really impressive.

I know this may not seem like much but I think the biggest boost will be to loading times.
I recently played through Fallout 4 and the loading times in that can be a bit annoying and it would make quite a difference if the OX could slash those times with a faster HDD and the extra ram being used to also speed it up.

I know it's obviously cost related, but I'm at a loss as to why neither MS or PS have offered the opportunity to buy a solid state drive model / upgrade. The GPU power is impressive. I imagine waiting for 4k assets to load will be less so.

They did sell out rather quickly.
I wonder how large the allocation was as surely this will be a rather low volume product.

Can't you already do that using an external drive?

Digital Foundry will hopefully be able to shed light on the difference between loading times on Xbox, PS4 Pro and OX and see if the hardware wizards have managed to make a difference.

I remember someone already doing a comparison of different hard drives on the original XB1. I'll have a look.

I'm pretty sure I remember some bloke at Microsoft saying the link between the HDD and the OX was twice as fast as the XBO.
Some bollocks like that anyway. Maybe something about "Pipelines".
