Xbox One X (OX) news: Xbox One X Project Scorpio edition. A special launch day edition with packaging that references the Original Xbox (OX).

It might sound crazy but that box looks pretty attractive to me it might be the thing to push me to preorder! :fp:

Paul Thurrott (journalist with sources at the top of Microsoft) said Microsoft will be using the marketing line 'For the Gamers.' This of course would be an adaptation of PS4's 'For the Players' slogan that won hearts and minds pre-gen launch. ~~If true then I think it is a marketing mistake that actually looks like a rip-off which suggest a lack of ideas.~~ EDIT: I think Paul Thurrott has perhaps misinterpreted the joke from the person who leaked this on twitter.

Edit: Xbox One X = XBOX, Xbox One S = XBOS?

Yeah, I'd anticipate this being the standard launch model rather than a more expensive edition.

I wonder... it has taken quite a while for pre-orders to open... maybe MS will surprise us with a lower launch price? Perhaps the past few months has allowed them to drop the cost to £399 rather then £449?

I think it would be more likely they'd bundle in a game like Forza 7 rather than change the price.

Evidence would suggest they'll launch it with limited edition housing rather than lower the price.

It's not expensive for what it is although what it is, is quite expensive.

I've pre-ordered the Scorpio edition from Amazon because it's the only one available but to be honest, I'm not keen on the ribbed effect on the top. I would prefer the smooth top of the standard edition. The Scorpio lettering looks a bit naff too, especially sideways on the controller.

I'm still in two minds on whether to get the One X or not.
One the one hand Xbox console exclusives all come to PC now, on the other hand my PC is only running a 970 which is starting to show its age now. Plus there's the potential of additional backwards compatibility on the One X isn't there with original Xbox games that won't be available with the regular Xbox One? Or am I mis-remembering/misunderstanding?

If the OX had launched for last Christmas then I may have dived in but, having picked up a Pro and the Switch, there is no way I will be splashing out on the Xbox as well. It looks to be a fantastic machine, though.

I'm fairly certain back compat with select Original Xbox games is coming to all Xbox One consoles, not just the X.
