I'm getting one but not sure if it will be at launch, possibly January at latest.

Sony are doing more than enough to support Pro.

It's third parties who don't seem bothered about 4K.

I'm pretty confident most of my multiplayer time will still be on the PS4 with things like Destiny 2 and maybe Anthem if that goes down well on here.

Differences in implementation, the X1X upgrades stuff itself across the board, to get higher res textures and stuff it's up to the Devs, it's looking pretty decent so far for X1X in that regard.

Basically MS looks at the Pro and have tried to minimise the negatives it had at launch.

They could do a lot more, in my opinion. When you buy a game it rarely makes clear what the Pro benefits are - if any - and games don't often have many Pro options in the settings. There are some good examples such as Rise of the Tomb Raider (which offers a mix of processing / graphic options in the settings) but this is far from being the norm.

No it doesn't, it only does this for games that have dynamic resolution.

For example, Halo 5 drops the resolution from 1080p when things get heavy to keep the frame rate up.

Xbox One X would keep that at 1080p, though I'm aware they're doing a 4K patch.

Xbox One X isn't just going to automatically make your old/unsupported games run at 4K.

Games will load a lot quicker though simply because the hard drive is twice as fast which may not sound all that amazing but is a useful upgrade as games get bigger.

You were quoting my comment on 4K.

The video basically shows what PS4 Pro automatically does, boost most for better frame rates and quicker loading.

Sorry Nick-kun, but you're wrong.

PS4 Pro boost mode works in one way and one way only. It unlocks the 1.3x faster CPU on the Pro for non patched games. Any loading benefits are a direct result of the loading being someway CPU bound or the marginally faster HDD in the PS4 Pro.

Here's a nice graph which illustrates how much more effort Microsoft are putting in:

Image

Blue bars are performance on Xbox One.
Red bars are performance on Xbox One X, with no changes made at all.
Green bars are the performance of the game on Xbox One, with no real work done by the developer, but the source code recompiled in the new SDK.

So they've put in a huge amount of work to make getting the most out of the console as easy as possible for the dev. Literally just recompile your code.

Likewise, the One X has more RAM than the original Xbox One (where as the Pro and PS4 standard have the same amount). Again, MS have put in the work to enable games to use that RAM as a cache to make things load faster:

Nick will conveniently ignore that.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

I am as I don't have an xbone and I quite fancy giving the exclusives a try and having games run at what will surely be best versions of this gen consoles is always nice.

I'm planning on pre-ordering one.

Pro has been poorly utilized so far. If anything good will come of it, it at least directed MS down the Xbox One X route which looks a whole different kettle of fish in terms of power.

Probably more to do with the fact that it has and always will have a small user-base.

The mid-gen upgrades are the modern day MegaCD/32X.

Yeah, sure, except the part where 20% of all PS4 sales are Pros and they've been supply constrained for a significant period of time.

So... I have to plug my Xbox One X into my Xbox One? I'm not sure they made that clear in the promotional videos.

Will pre-order as soon as it's available, just hope they have a 2TB+ option.

I'll be getting one and have already switched some of my pre-orders from the PS4 version in anticipation.
