It's impressive. The form, the power, the performance, those Forza graphics.

I just have absolutely no desire to buy one.

I just checked and I paid £430 for my Xbox One Day One edition with Forza 5 (2013!). I'd say £450 Is reasonable for a decent upgrade.

I think I'll pass though.

Don't Sony put stickers on the front of the cases and have 2 boxes on the rear for PS4 and PS4 Pro.

I think technically information would ruin cover art anyway.

There are people in here suggesting PC gaming as an alternative and you think that is confusing.

Anyone found anywhere to preorder yet? Seems strange you can only register interest in most places.

Promotion materials have shown it with the standard controller so I'm guessing not.

An interesting read... and it makes a good point. Most folk don't have access to a 4K screen and so won't see *that* much benefit if they pick up an X or a Pro. I've found myself thinking about the Xbox X but it'd be silly to get one unless I had a 4K screen as well; which isn't going to happen at the moment. The audience for both of these consoles is a bit niche at present.

While I can't see the point of PS4Pro or XboneX, it makes sense for any new consoles to be "future proofed" by supporting 4K.

A lot of people might not have a 4K set at the moment, but the near future is 4K. The prices are now at an affordable level and it will be mass market over the next year or so.

It's like when the 360 launched and could do HD, not everyone had an HD TV at the time, but they did very soon after.

The problem is, "future-proofing" is all well and good, but by the time 4K TVs are able to be picked up by the man on the street (not literally, as I don't know how heavy they are), then we could be at the beginning of a new generation anyway. You could be future-proofing for a console that's going to have a proper successor in two years or so.

You can pick up 4K TVs now for similar prices to HD screens.

Like I said, I think PS4Pro and XboneX are pointless but if they are releasing them then making them capable of 4K makes sense.

One of the huge benefits of the extra power will be for VR so once they reveal that I think they'll have an easier time showing why people need an Xbox X.

Didn’t they say that nobody would be left behind? Which would mean VR is coming to the standard Xbone.

It all comes down to the X will be a little bit prettier. Which is not worth paying £250 extra for.

What an odd decision if true given that PSVR seems to be doing pretty well and the X could manage VR easily.
