I think it perhaps has more effect than in the past as some people are heavily invested in digital downloading and few folk want to pay out for more than one subscription in order to play online. But, hey, quite a few people switched from the PS2 to the Xbox 360... and from the Xbox 360 to the PS4. If games start looking a lot better on Scorpio than that could be a driver in people deciding to switch.
Including 360 titles I've about 200+ digital games linked to my Live account which is paid up till 2018 (cd keys sale) and of course EA Access account that's paid up till November, as such it's ludicrous to even contemplate buying a PS4 when my game time is limited as it is. True I bought a Wii U but got the games I wanted and that's that console done going forward for me plus I have no subscription on it and don't intend to get one.
I've factored in a 4K tv when purchasing a Scorpio, I've allocated €1,500 to both, hoping to get a 52-60" 4K HDR screen for €1k, original Xbox One will head to spare room with its 1080p TV. The fact that performance issues will be instantly resolved is a major plus point, not many games bug me but I think Dishonored 2's framerate on X1 is awful, but DF didn't see a problem with it, I half feel I've a bugged version of it, that or I play Dishonored DE and that was locked smooth at 30fps and I can't get used to drops? Either way, it's joined an ever growing pile of games I'll revisit on Scorpio.
