I have got the controller swapped with a replacement now...

Network transfer really doesn’t work so I’ve got an SSD drive as an external drive with the intention of using that to copy all my stuff too and then move to the new Xbox... however... how do you even do that?!

I’ve plug the drive in to the Xbox and it says it’s ready but it’s listed as a media external drive with “pictures, music & video” on the tile for that drive. You can’t use SSDs for games and DLC?

If I go in to the internal drive using the tile (transfer) I can select all contents or a certain game but with those checked I have no options available to me as “copy” and “move” are both greyed out

It’s only 120GB external drive (112GB usuable) so I can’t copy all of them by “selecting all”, but even with a single game at 43GB selected those two options are still grey

I've just bought a 8TB Game hub and had a similar problem.

If it's saying it's for "pictures, music and video" then it's formatted wrong and you can't transfer games on to it. That's why you don't have the option to copy.

I formatted it this way by mistake (pressed the controller button before the TV was on)

There didn't seem to be an option to just reformat it.

I had to get my "S" out and plug it into that - plugging it into a new system gives you the option again as to how you want to format it - games or media.

You might be able to do it by plugging it into a PC.

Yeh I don’t have that option :( I’ll try reformatting it (I literally didn’t do anything other than plug it in to the xbox, it’s even a brand new drive and never been used)

Tried network transfer again and whatever I try to transfer I get “installation stopped”

Might just download everything again as it’s probably quicker

Ah that makes sense. The drives only 120GB :fp:

I did a full restart on both consoles and have lost about 300 DLC files on the new console that had transferred and Perfect Dark has instantly transferred over the network this time without going in to the queue

I’m on the verge of returning this. Now I know how frank feels with this kind of stuff

What games really make use of the new hardware and is it worth £450?

You could say the same about any high spec PC or the PS4 and original XB1 at launch. No one game justifies the cost of the new hardware.

Yes?

In the end I cancelled my delayed preorder. The 2018 exclusives is a small list but the strength of the XBO X is improving third party games and as the Halo machine. I'm definitely getting one next year along with a 4K tv and I think it will be around the time Halo: MCC gets the update. Microsoft should be working on making sure that Halo 6 is the best FPS of the generation. If 343i create something special that perhaps has some kind of persistent world or takes lessons from Destiny, then Halo 6 has the potential to bring that excitement back to the franchise that goes beyond the Xbox fans and reaches the mass market.

I almost was! But Amazon didn't deliver on the day of launch which gave me time to think that I had just dropped a grand on the iPhone X. But more than that i'm studying for a work-related exam so mainly no time until Christmas. Did you get one?

Nah... I was never really in the market, Venom. It looks to be a terrific machine and I love the backwards-compatibility but, at the moment, I’m esconced in the Sony and Nintendo universes.

After a few black screen crashes and a lock up I’ve got all my stuff transferred across using the network transfer (it’s just really slow and not really informative as to what’s going on, and also really flakey!)

Just got to wait for the console to index all of my content now and then I can play it :toot:

I received an email from MS on Wednesday saying...

"This is your next level, oo Yungstar oo. Thanks for continuing your gaming journey with us and for being part of the 4K revolution. Here’s how to get the most out of your Xbox One X. " etc etc.

anyone else?

Great bants in the Eurogamer Digital Foundry comments:

Some people take 'their' favoured console being the most powerful (or not, as the case may be) very personally...for some reason.

Been out and ordered an LG OLED55B7V today, managed to get John Lewis to price match Argos at £1529 and then got £30 back in credit.

Always said that under £1500 would be my biting point for OLED, still expensive but hopefully it'll be worth it and I won't get burn in issues.

Did you look at anything else? I had my mind made up on the Sony KD-55XE9005 but an OLED for the same money is tempting.

*edit* To keep this on topic, my girlfriend agreed with me that I should upgrade the consoles to go with our new TV and trade in our current ones while they're worth something :D

Just hit link

Bound to happen at some stage, resolution increase on X1X is far greater it should be though. 63-103% increase in resolution doesn’t match the power differential.

The other TV I was looking at was the Sony the model up from that, the KD-55XE9305. Its a nice TV with its own advantages, but at the end of the day side by side the OLED just looked better (though obviously that is in store and not showing exactly the same content).

I hope one of the LG or Sony TVs mentioned get a decent price cut during this years Black Friday sales.

I just realised that this gooseberry fool doesn’t come with a headset like my other Xbox.

Can I just use iPhone headphones/mic? Are there any weird limitations that Microsoft impose?

If you want the Xbox One X specifically as a 4K Blu Ray player hold off because apparently it's currently broken according to Forbes and others:

Forbes wrote:The Xbox One X 4K Blu-Ray Player Is A Disaster

While I’m going to have plenty of good stuff to say about the Xbox One X in articles over the coming days, I’ve unfortunately got to kick off with some seriously bad news. Namely that at the time of writing, the Xbox One X’s 4K Blu-ray drive is a bit of a mess. To say the least.

As anyone who reads my Forbes channel regularly will know, I spend an unhealthy amount of time testing TVs and 4K Blu-ray players, as well as reviewing 4K Blu-ray discs. And as it stands right now, the Xbox One X’s 4K Blu-ray drive is by far the worse 4K Blu-ray player around. Except, sadly, for the Xbox One S - something I’ll come back to later.

https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnarcher ... -disaster/

Worst FFS!

Seriously disappointing because stand-alone players are still rather expensive. Maybe something MS can patch.
