The dev never said it would remain PC only.

Anyway...

Oh thank floop. Thought we'd have to play a chunk of the game as a domestic police force or something. :dread:

XCOM 2’s console versions delayed by a few weeks

The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One ports of XCOM 2 have been pushed back to Sept. 27, publisher 2K Games announced today.

That represents a three-week delay — when 2K announced the console versions back in June, the company said that the turn-based strategy game would launch Sept. 6 on PS4 and Xbox One.

FAO anyone buying the console version

Don't buy the Anarchys Children DLC, its gooseberry fool, Alien Hunters is a bit meh but adds some powerful weapons (and a little detail about what a certain German scientist has been up to since the previous game), Shens Last Gift is pretty good though as it adds and extra soldier type and a fairly lengthy mission.

Hnnngggg so tempted to get this on PS4 despite my self-imposed-no-new-games rule :fp:

Anyone playing this on consoles? Is it as good as I hope? :(

Worst thing is load and reload (for all the times you strawberry float up and someone dies) times. After that it's probably the sound skipping out on words during cutscenes. I'm not seeing anything during gameplay that's worth worrying about, but then I'm only on 4th of 5th proper mission. Other than the load times. Those are pissing me off. :x

I already did that once when my favourite soldier (after all of two maps :slol: ) got critically injured and has been out of the game for the best part of 25 days.

Never again!

In a weird way I liked it on X:COM when you'd lose a valued squad member, the memorial-bagpipes would sound that bit more sorrowful and the whole perma-death mechanic just gave it all a bit more impact.

Ironman is the only way to play X-COM.

It's so much more tense and exciting than just reloading because you ran round a corner and died, because you didn't scout first.

It forces you to play much more tactically and is all the better for it.

Baby mode is plenty tense for me :slol: I don't go in all guns blazing, just... little oversights and *bam* I've run into enemy territory and have been discovered. There's even less chance of me trying Ironman what with some missions being limited to a certain amount of moves. Again, that is plenty tense for me!

I was going to replay XCOM2 soon on Ironman, but I just remember how broken the concealment mechanic was, where you'll be spotted out of the blue with no warning and get utterly strawberry floated. Then when you've barely escaped by the skin of your teeth two more squads will stumble across you when you have one move left for the turn.

strawberry float that game.

It's that strawberry floating grey-alike alien, isn't it? He has an area of awareness (the red squares) around him which you may happen to fall under when he patrols your way. Very annoying.

Boomerang shipped Mafia III today and so now I'm not sure how much more of this I cba to play. Hopefully between now and tomorrow morning, it hooks me enough to overlook the load times, if not... I'll just have to try and come back to it at some other time.
