If I get to level 3 with a final fire attack in a blades combo, the enemy will gain an elemental orb (where do I see this by the way? I haven’t observed them yet) and have a resistance to all future fire attacks until I break it with a chain combo? And the best way to break it is use an opposite element special, eg water for fire, in a chain combo?
Yes - completing a blade combo will attach an orb to the targeted enemy. The element of the orb will be determined by the element of the last blade used in the combo. The orbs appear as balls which float around the enemy (red for fire, blue for water etc.)
You can burst the orbs during a chain attack, multiple hits are required to burst an orb but you do double damage if you attack using the opposite element to the orb. It gets slightly more complicated once you have multiple orbs on an enemy: attacks will always target an orb of opposing element (if one exists) otherwise it is random as to which orb an attack will target. Basically you should always try to attack using opposing elements where possible.
If you manage to burst an orb then you get to do another round of attacks, you can keep this going for as many orbs as you are able to burst.
