I'm so glad the DLC can be brought standalone since my brother sold the game a while back. Trying to avoid as much as I can but from the few seconds of trailers we've seen it just looks so damn good. Can't wait to jump back into that world again.

Still in the first part of chapter 7, now at a part where you need 3 wind and fire skills to progress. So I equip enough blades to get through, problem being? I get jumped by a level 50 spider right near the barrier meaning I'm fighting a higher level enemy with rubbish blades equipped. :dread:

For all the stuff this game does well the field skills really do annoy me, I just don't see the point in them. I could kind of give them a pass in XCX as there was only a few and they really were completly optional from what I remember, but the way they're implemented in this one just irks me a lot.

Edit, had a quick google to see if I was in the minority of people who disliked the way field skills were implemented and I'm glad to see I'm definitely not :) however by having a quick look it seems to become more of an issue from this point on? Is that the case? I'm hoping not :(

If they implemented some kind of code that checked if you could meet the field skill requirements while remaining within the three blade to each character limit that would help alot. Just pointless time wasting at the moment. As are those bloody voice overs they do every time a field skill procs.

No worries about sounding patronising! But yes I have tried to kill it once, then tried to skirt round it second time. Might get Morag and Zeke in my party to see if they can help take it down as they're higher than the enemy.

Also lol at all the field skill quotes

The field skills are ruining my enjoyment of this game, I get into it for an hour or so (now on some other titan, done the bit I was previously stuck on) before getting to yet another field skill check. This time I need to upgrade the leaping skill, I've already used all my common core crystals trying to get a blade with the level 1 skill to no luck. Looks like I'll.be googling what item Poppi likes to level hers up.

Seriously who at Monolith Soft actually thought this was a good idea?

Rant over :D

Does Roc have leaping as well? Field skills get less of an issue once you get a larger party as the field skills of your reserve driver blades also count.

Don't think he does, only ones who were being acknowledged were Poppi and the rare blade Morag gets given.

Yeah, Roc doesn't have leaping, which is weird considering he's a massive bird. Luckily I found Finch reasonably early, and she's got it.

Picked up... Kassandra earlier from the salvage point in Mor Ardain. Would never have found that myself :slol:

Is Leaping at least one of the easy abilities to grind on Poppi by just blitzing through the consumable foodstuffs?

Yeah it is, some item from Argentum to boost her level for future reference.

I just popped out into this beautiful area! If I had wifi I would share.

Sometimes this gane just wows me. So much has gone into level/world design and with that music

I'm nicely into the start of chapter 8 and for the first time the music really is something special while you're exploring the opening location of the chapter (I presume unless it's a short chapter you'll go to at least one more location). For the first time in the game it feels like I'm under levelled as well, final fight in chapter 7 I was 52 across the board for my main party while the boss was 54/56.

While I'm certainly enjoying it a lot more than I was (getting the hang of attaching orbs to enemies but still pretty poor at it!), I don't think I'm enjoying it enough to warrent the DLC. I'll probably be pretty happy when I've completed it and csn crack on with something else.

Edit, what a kick in the teeth in chapter 8, I'm fighting the Infernal Guldo and when it got to about 20% HP it one shotted my entire party, it's not like they were all on low health either (probably at least 2/3 on each of them), bit cheap isn't it?

Edit 2, done that boss now. Just attached an orb and blasted it with a chain attack before it could do its thing.

Chapter 7 now :dread:

Do you need Pyra to do Azami's blade quest? I can't find the guy in Fonsa Myma to talk to... I noticed Wulfric's requires you to have her around, for some reason.

Got to a bit where I need Dark Mastery and she was like the only dark blade I've got :fp: Was hoping to just grind her mastery up a bit. Just wasted five rare core crystals trying to get some more dark blades. This whole RNG side of the rare core crystals thing is nonsense. Rare crystals should give you rare blades otherwise there's no point to them whatsoever :x

You get Dark Mastery on common dark blades as well. Just boost up the last stat and rip through common crystals.

It's a bit annoying having to swap your whole team for three jobber blades every now and then, though. I'm just glad I'd bonded enough crystals with the rest of my team. Rex had six blades with Dark Mastery on his own :slol:

I've not been doing many side quests (probably since the start of chapter 7) as I really wanted to crack on with the story. Feels like I'm nearing the end of chapter 9. With how the story is shaping up I'm guessing chapter 10 will be on the shorter side.
