Tried to get into this more recently, because I'm laughably bad at teh combat it's actually seemed a bit more enjoyable since I've dropped it down to easy (plus killing normal enemies doesn't take forever this way which was annoying to say the least), I get the feeling I'm nearing the end of chapter 5 currently.

If you can be bothered to look up tutorials, I found that they really helped me get some of the battling basics that the game barely explained. I found things much easier after that!

EDIT: First thing I went to was is Nia a guy? Now I'm thinking about it - is she a blade? :shifty:

I thought she was pregnant. Which was awkward given that she looks early teens at the eldest. I was, fortunately, wrong.

Super Dragon 64 wrote:Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - for over 10 years, Tales of Symphonia was my favourite ever game thanks to its addictive battle system, unforgettable music and memorable voice actors who gave life to an engaging story. All that changed when I played through Xenoblade Chronicles 1 and found everything that I loved about Symphonia inside a huge world that I could explore for countless hours and enjoy doing so.

I thought that it would be another 10 years before something else topped Xenoblade but it quickly happened when I really got stuck into Xenoblade 2 this year. It builds upon Xenoblade 1 in a way that I've not really seen in other sequels as its battle system has a lot more depth - one of the few criticisms that I have is that the basics aren't explained well so you benefit from playing Xenoblade 1 but to get a better grip of the mechanics, not the story. Anyway, I've put over 70 hours into this game and I'm not even at the halfway point, have the huge DLC expansion to experience afterwards and I'd be more than happy to delve into NG+ if I had the time.

I'm really feeling it! :toot:

Thought this could do with repeating!

What Dragon said is basically me too apart from I never really got into XC1 as much as Tales of Symphonia.

I probably should watch a few tutorials for the combat to see if it makes it more enjoyable, I'm finding it ok for now though, one of my main issues was just how long it took to kill even relativly low level enemies (compared to the player) which seemed to make it drag a lot.

The combat is worth getting to grips with as it is absolutely one of the best bits of this fantastic game!

I used to love JRPGs back in the day but there was always that element of annoyance at random battles that just seemed to frustrate more than entertain to the point where sometime during the PS2 era I kind of gave up on the genre. XC2 was such a revelation in that the combat was so much fun that more often than not I was actively seeking out battles rather than dreading them!

There are several important nuances that are poorly communicated in the game itself so it's worth doing a bit of research online into arts, combos etc. but it really will reward you!

Another reason I'm not really feeling it. I'm at a point where I need a field skill at a certain level to progress, meaning I'm stuck for short while till I can get Poppi's super strength up to the next level. Part of me wants to quit but with how much I loved Xenoblade and Xenoblade Chronicles X (admittedly when I restarted it for a second time) I really want to at least complete the story.

Maybe I'm just being picky but I understand secrets and chests being hidden behind this kind of thing, story based stuff? I think you should just be able to crack on with the story if that's what you want and not held back just because you haven't done X or Y objective to get said field skill.

Edit, done and how into the factory, didn't take as long as I feared but still a minor annoyance to me!

This concerns me. I still haven't managed to level Poppi up at all :dread: Do you only get stuff for her through that Tiger Tiger game? Even her upgrade screen baffles me :slol:

I did that once when I first got her, haven't done it since! I've not really looked much at upgrading her, Tora is kind of annoying in battle so once I get a 4th member I might drop the Tora/Poppi combo anyway

No I mean the field skills (think they're called field skills anyway), like Dromarchs botany for finding extra stuff. One of them you needed level 2 of super strength but mine was only at 1 at the time.

I don't remember a story section walled off by field skills, where is that?

Just inside the abandoned factory entrance on Mordain, need super strength at level 2 which I didn't have. Maybe I should have had it already at level 2 but I didn't at that point, slight annoyance.

I think I can safely say unless this clicks for me hugely between now and the end I won't be grabbing the DLC.

Shouldn't you have Wulfric by now? Also, don't forget that just means you need a super strength total across all blades of 2, not one blade at 2.

Unless you're really unlucky with RNG, you should have some other Blades from Cores with the superstrength Field Skill. You can have two Blades each with level 1 superstrength and meet the level 2 requirement.

As Shy Guy said, it's also worth checking the Affinity Charts to learn how to level up your Blades' Field Skills.

Speaking of being unlucky with RNGs and blades, I've got 50 blades, and not one of which has a Megalance which I need for the Vess quest :dread:

I won't get different weapons if I use the boosters, will I?

I don't have Wulfric yet unless he's one of the cores I've not bonded yet.

Didn't realise they stacked across blades either, cheers for that tip!

Beast core, you should get it during chapter 3 and it should be activated to use at the beginning of chapter 4

Yeah I've got it then, just not used it, partly because I've no idea who the best driver is for Wulfric and Vess.

He's a pretty good attack blade, stick him on Rex. Also, his affinity missions are pretty good.

boosters are for increased chances of getting certain elements, weapon types are random as far as i can tell, barring specific core crystals for specific blades
