Although I haven't yet finished it as I got beat by the final boss first time round :( party was all level 70 but they still seemed to be able to one shot me when the battle entered its closing stages, also annoyingly any orbs I placed on the boss seemed to disappear and my team gauge was used reviving party members so couldn't even get a chain attack going! Going to grind till level 75, should be easy enough using chain attacks to boost my bonus exp and the enemies close by although finishing it will probably have to wait for this evening.

Do you have Nia as a blade? Once she's powered up, she's pretty much an easy win as she regenerates health at a crazy rate.

That's worth knowing. I never actually used Nia as a blade, she was too useful as my party healer in her driver state so I didn't get round to experimenting with her as a blade!

Robbo - by my recollection there are some enemies very near the boss that if you get your chain attacks right to boost exp through overkills then you can really boost yourself up the levels quite quickly. I think there is a room near the end with some big robots that are dormant on the walls but attack you if you get close - they were relatively easy to beat if you get your combos right and give a huge amount of exp if you max out the overkill bonus. They are also right by a fast travel point so you can beat them all, then fast travel back to spawn them all again!

No, that was going to be my next idea if I couldn't beat it at level 75

Also does anyone think the Torna DLC will be hard to come by on a physical cartridge in the future? I'll probably want to play it at some point in the future anyway (despite my previous post saying I've not got any plans to pick it up for the foreseeable future :fp:) and would prefer it on a cart rather than download if possible. Just don't see it being a huge run for a physical game really.....

Currently doing just this! :D even my relativly poor execution of combos I'm still getting around 12,000 if I pull off a decent combo on one of them, gone from 70 to 74 in the 40 mins I've been doing it (so probably not that quick either).

That's how I use Nia as well, as a party healer but I guess doing the alternative you take over as party healer?

Can't remember exactly but I think I used Pyra/Mythra, Nia and Roc (purely for the smash ability).

Yeah...

It does that. Save yer second lot of orbs and big ol’ combo for the latter stages of the fight, otherwise it’ll one-shot you again and again. Like it did me.

With regards to EXP grinding, I found Vampire Bride Marion in the Dragon's Stomach of Uraya to be great when around the level 60 mark and it is also a great place for getting the Gold Chips to make Legendary Core farming that much easier later on. Some of the high-level enemies on Temperantia make for quick levelling and by level 90 Relentless Arduran becomes super easy and a great spot for Legendary Cores.

I really need to get back to this.

I was in Chapter 5, about 30 hours play time, and about to go and see some kinda pope guy or something, but then I put the game down and haven't been back to it in utterly ages.
I want to get back to it, but I can't totally remember what's happening in the story, and 30 hours is a lot to restart.

I might end up leaving it a bit longer until the expansion is out then restart anyway. Can always skip some cutscenes I remember.

Does the game support multiple save files on a single profile? Can't remember if there were save slots.

Don't think so, think it's one save slot per Switch user.

The pope guy is fun though, you'll want to meet him.

Hmm, it might be worth starting over. Most of my play time was prior to the DLC coming out and I've forgotten half of the mechanics. 30 hours seems like a lot but I'll probably spend a good chunk of time re-learning the game anyway if I try to pick up where I left off. I don't think I really had much in the way of rare blades, certainly not any of the tie-in ones yet.

I just find stuff like that rather cheap more than anything, surely they can make it trickier/harder without just suddenly getting one shotted constantly from nearly full health? Anyway I'm yet to try it again as I was late back from work this evening and I'm back there in a few hours so my second attempt will have to wait!

Well I've just finished this, did the final boss on my second attempt (although I still think that move that wipes out your entire party is still kind of cheap!).

Cheers for all the help/advice given along the way :)

Loved the ending

All in all a really good game, not perfect by any means but few games are. Marks out of 10? Probably an 8 - 8.5. If the blades field skills weren't an issue and the odd cheap one party KO from the last boss (which I just find pretty cheap) weren't there it'd probably be an easy 9. Loved the story and the world but part of Xenoblade is exploring the world and the stupid field skill thing made exploration much more limiting in my opinion. Even though it took an age to click the combat was superb by the closing stages.

Looking forward to Torna The Golden Country now, just ordered myself a copy! Although I probably will try and clear some of my backlog before I get around to playing it.

Eight’s fair. I’d have given it a nine, but I’m less forgiving of ridiculous boy-sword romance.

It’s a flawed 10/10 game.

Thought it tied them together very nicely, something people who've played them both will pick up but a new player isn't going to lose out if they haven't.
