I got to Chapter 6 last night. Gotta say the boss of chapter 5 was one of the worst I've faced yet. If you aren't fully versed with how the battle mechanics work then it's will really test your patience...

I'm currently just about to hit 40 hours and I'm wondering if that is a reasonable pace or not? I've seen people clock up hundreds of hours while they're around this point in the story >,> Worth mentioning that I'm not really taking on much side quest since they just don't seem all that interesting for now. Collecting them for later on. I completely forgot about the development thing tho.

I've seen a large variety of times. I've started chapter 7 at 55 hours. I have one friend who beat the game in 85 hours, another who beat it in like 120. I don't think there is a set reasonable pace as such, just depends how much you want to explore and do quests I suppose.

The game has only felt overwhelming a couple times in terms of difficulty so far. So I was just wondering. I haven't had to really grind much. But I guess all the extra things to do make make up for other peoples longer hours. Maybe I should really start doing other stuff >,>

I'm at about 65 hours and near the start of chapter 5 with my characters all on about level 45. I would say I'm taking it pretty slowly - I've finished most side quests I've encountered so far, although a few are paused midway as I either lack the required field skill or they rely on a Merc quest which is not available yet.

Also I can't believe I only just realised that finishing enemies with a chain attack gives you bonus EXP! All that extra experience I could have gained by now! :fp:

I didn't realise that either! Though I have got in the habit on not doing a chain attack until I can finish off a boss because I've had a couple of instances where I then died because I didn't have any gauge left to resurrect anyone mid fight after doing a chain attack.

60 odd hours in and at the start of Chapter 7. I think everyone in my party is around level 50. The lack of Pyra has completely strawberry floated up my battle tactics though,
no topple :x

I have a party composition that feels great to play with now, after this long into the game lol. Just a shame I mainly have water element blades, which isn't really of my usual taste. The random blade pull mechanic kinda holds the experience back somewhat I feel like. Cuz' you won't be getting many until much later in the game. It's almost out of your control with what sort of team you want to build. It's having to make do with what you have and that's pretty disappointing imo.

Looks like the 1.3.0 patch is live this morning.

Well in to Chapter 7 now. Really didn't like the dungeon that gimped your special levels but because I was about 10 levels higher than the mobs then I could just run through most of it. Experimenting with Nia as a blade, seems very powerful as a healer but now I need a good attacking option. Decided to release Wulfric from Nia in the hope that I'll pick him up again through bonding to Zeke. Starting to regret it now.

dont think youll be able to get him back seeing as hes gotten from a specific core crystal rather than a random one

I thought that too but a couple of searches seem to say he's available from the common/rare crystals so fingers crossed.

Some of those changes sound excellent and I'm particularly looking forward to those items which lets you add additional accessory slots!

Guess I'll start New Game + later today.

It's worth noting that Overdrive Protocols will let you switch the Blades to a different Driver. You can get them easily enough by completing the 4* common blades affinity chart but you should find 5 or 6 throughout the main story.

Ok, I thought they were really rare and I wasted a couple early on without realising how valuable they are.

EDIT: I also forget that you get rewards for completing common blades too. I've got a handful of weapon upgrades I've never used as I don't remember I got them. So much stuff in this game that is easy to miss.

Don't the boosters allow you to influence the element of the blade you bond with? If you look at the colours circling the crystal when you highlight each booster it indicates the elemental type of the blade you will get when you bond.

I think luck still plays a large part mind!

I did the same thing, got to Uraya and switched a common blade over to Rex not realising those items would be rare for a decent portion of the game. Being able to grind the unique enemies is such a blessing when it comes to managing your team setup and getting all those rare blades/blade chips.

There is just so much depth to all the systems it's easy to miss things, even up to the last chapter there is something new to discover and expand upon. This game though, once all the various systems click with you it's like bloody crack.

That's what I mean. The booster don't have that much of an effect if you don't have that specific idea at a decent level. At least that's what it feels like for me. I've wasted multiple boosters only to get common blades which felt pretty annoying.

As with the new update being able to change difficulty on the fly is actually a welcome addition.

I might need to take a break from this. 75 hours in and nothing else is getting a look in. I've just opened up Chapter 8 and now loads of blade affinity quests are open to me and I just want to grind them all up. I don't want to stop playing but I think I might have to and then come back to it later. It's just so good.

I hit a point in Chapter 7 that requires you to have a certain blade skill at level 3. I haven't been going out of my to really level up affinity charts since they have been growing naturally. Some of them seem so tedious tho. Like collecting something from a certain group of items. Still not sure what that means >,>
