If you're targeting an enemy/they're targeting you, does it actually matter where you're standing to attack each other? Tried to move out of range of one of those krabbie things, but it still damaged me despite being miles away... Not the biggest fan of the autoattack, but I'm expecting the different blades and stuff will give it a bit more excitement soon enough.

Don't worry, auto attack is the least important bit of the combat. The only issue is the really good bits are drip fed over the first few chapters. Concentrate on using the driver arts at the right point to charge the blade arts.

The auto attack at first makes the game feel really basic but that's only because so much of the combat hasn't been introduced to you yet. You basically have to keep going and waiting for it to open up, which can take awhile in fairness.

Also, I think the voice acting is brilliant and gives the game a lot of character. Pyra in particular is great. The biggest issue is the overuse of soundbites (DON'T FORGET ME, FLORE HEALS AN ACHING SOUL, MAYBE AGRICULTURE IS POPPY'S SPECIALIST FIELD) but I think you can turn them off in combat at least.

'DON'T FORGET ME' is wonderful and to anyone who says otherwise: YER DONE.

The Tora soundbites are really terrible though.

Is it Tora who says 'the world is full of wonderful places every time you find a new waypoint/location? That alone could be enough to drive me back to the Japanese audio track.

Anyways, just cleared chapter 3 in NG+ with expansion pass. Skipping every non-main quest. What would be nice is an indicator above the person that a quest is dlc or a quest you didn't complete previously.

Probably. I mostly just remember his very specific Poppi-sized sausage dream happening again and again. As if the whole Tora-Poppi thing isn’t creepy enough.

Chapter 5 now, absolutely barrelling through it when you don't have to fight anything apart from quest specific battles. Managed to get Wulfric back too after getting him in a common core crystal :toot: I think my aims with the NG+ playthrough is to max every region, get all the rare blades, max out the merc missions (and by association max out Roc) and maybe max out a few more rare blades (though not Ursula, she can strawberry float off with her ridiculous merc mission requirements).

I dumped Tora from my party at the earliest opportunity and then he was basically never allowed back in, creepy little weirdo!

Meh, meh, meh!

Keep getting chased by stuff that's a higher level than me on the big field by that town that Nia's from :x Is there a button that I'm meant to press to tell them to strawberry float off, or have I *got* to try and fight them even though they'll obliterate me? Rude.

Just got my second blade, though, so it's not all bad.

I don't think I've spotted a giant monkey yet :dread: They're like little wolfy things, I think? Will try and do a bit more of the story quest to level up a little. Still not super confident with the battle system so maybe it's just me being bad.

Is Rex your only driver at the moment? That section is a bit hard, best bet is push on with the main quest as you'll get some more party members.

There’s no point really getting into battles until your party is three person strong as the combat is designed around a full party.

The random super high level enemies in the middle of low level enemies really annoyed me. Just run through as best you can.

They were always one of my favourite bits about the Xenoblades! Annoying to get hit by, but they do make it feel a bit more ecosystem-esque.

Yeah, I'm noticing that I'm struggling a LOT with just Rex :slol: Will stick with the main story until I've picked up a few more party peeps...

I was stuck at the same point as you for ages, I kept trying to just get through it before eventually giving up and moving on with the story. Came back when I had a larger party and absolutely crushed them. Suimple rule, if youre alone then dont do any side quests, just push the main story forward to get your party back.

Rumour has it that the UK/Euro physical version of the upcoming Torna - The Golden Country expansion is just a code-in-a-box; unlike the Japanese and USA versions. Details are pretty vague and we'll have to await confirmation.

(For reference, I'm level 19 at the moment...)

Found that stupid monkey earlier too. Repeatedly :dread:

Genuinely don't understand which way I should be going :slol: I've tried every which way and everywhere I go I find level 70-90 enemies that won't let me past :( The map doesn't seem very good so far.

that is a bit tricky to get to, you're not far from where you need to go in that pic, if you can find your way to the top of the waterfall that should help iirc maybe try returning to the campfire first
