QOL Changes:
- You can now lock Blades you pulled from the gacha to prevent yourself from accidentally releasing them. Also a good way to protect common blades which you want to keep but can't easily tell them apart.
- There is an option to SKIP THE BLADE GACHA ANIMATION!!!!!!
- They have updated the zoomed out minimap to display the super useful icons that were previously only on the fast travel map!!!
- Added an Easy Mode for scrubs.
- Accessories, Assist Cores, and Blade listings have additional sort functionalities.
- Added Advanced New Game Plus for those who have clear save data.

NG+ (has some spoilers)
- The 4 Blades used by the Ira/Torna members can be acquired as Blades now.
- The Ira/Torna members other than Metsu/Melos and Shin/Jin can be acquired as Blades too.
- It seems that you can get any of them either through gacha or from quests? They say you can pull them from common cores from the start of the game even if it doesn't make sense in the story lol.
- You can send any Blade on mercenary missions now. So the story blades have their own squad names too. <3
- Reverse Kizuna (Affinity I guess) Ring for characters added, with more stuff to unlock.
- Level Down feature added to inns to gain bonus exp back, using bonus exp as a currency you can now exchange items with a new NPC at inns.
- "That" Blade can finally use a lvl4 Special Attack.

What carries over in NG+:
- Driver levels
- Driver and Blade growth progression and equipment
- Blades acquired from gacha (good after the 300 hours it took to get them all I didn't want to do it all again)
- Acquired items and gold
- Town Development levels and Mercenary levels
- Event Theater content and status of Unique Monsters

All quests, bonding events, fast travel spots, and mercenary quests themselves are reset.

good to know

Is the expansion pack worth the snoops?

Looking at what has been released so far the most useful item from the pass has been a few Overdrive Protocols and 5 quests. The rare and legendary cores are very common later in the game and can be reliably farmed in many locations so coupled with the RNG Blade system that part of the pack is a bit gooseberry fool.

I'd hold off at least until the new blade and battle mode become available later this year.

Just topped 30 hours in and my appetite for this game isn't diminishing at all. Tempted to leave blade crystals now until the patch lands as that animation is starting to get on my nerves somewhat (particularly when you've got 25 core crystals to get through). Collected 13 unique blades now and have ditched any of the generic ones who only have elemental skills (too many blades to contemplate otherwise). Merc missions are pretty interesting, particularly after the first upgrade. The only thing bugging me at the moment is Pyra being currently switched to Mythra as I'm somewhere in Chapter 4, but I'm guessing that at some point I'll get the ability to switch them on the fly.
Also, Tora's ability to only hold Poppi at this point is a bit limiting but I have a feeling I'm not far off getting him a second artificial blade.
BTW, don't spoil either of those if I'm right or wrong.

This game is just so damn good, I can understand how it wouldn't be for everyone as it juggles so many different things in the air at any point. But all of those things are what I really like in games so it's almost like it's made for me. Haven't got to Juggsy Mcblade yet though so the full anime tropes haven't been unleashed on me, maybe that might change my mind. But the mechanics, feed them straight into my veins.

I started playing a couple weeks ago and have put around 20 hours or so. One thing I take away a lot is the gorgeous landscapes this game has. Love the art direction with some of the locations. Just a shame about the resolution issue.

It truly is a stunning looking game, pushing more pixels is great but the key is good artistic design and this game has it in spades (if you ignore the giant anime boobs obviously :D)

I'd love for them to add a photo mode to this - I've taken some nice shots but the HUD is a bit invasive.

Anyone else like playing this in first person mode? I quite like it and it helps get some nice screenshots too!

You adjust the camera with surprising freedom in the game from holding L and using right stick and d pad too. I find myself changing it a lot depending on where I am. Kinda wish more games did this.

Yeah the freedom the camera offers is great - really missed it when going back to Zelda for a while!

Tomous - basically if you bring the camera all the way in by holding L + Up on the right stick it will go first person, you can use L + Left/Right to adjust the height as well. It has a few quirks like the camera not reflecting when you jump but it's still nice for getting a closer look at the world as you explore.

Game has taken a bit of dip for me, purely down to the locations. Just going through chapter 4 and am trawling through a couple of factories. They're too dark, far too damn big for what they actually contain and any kind of map is completely useless. Be glad to get through this bit and get back to the exteriors.

EDIT: And I got killed by a strawberry floating rabbit and a couple of oversized chickens because I now don't have my tank (for some reason) whereas earlier in the chapter I can easily whoop the asses of anyone, yeah thanks for that.

Smashed my head against over a few times and emerged victorious. :toot:

Was this the fight towards the end of Chapter 4 against the two Torna blades? I've hit that and get massacred every time. Going to grind some of blades up a level or two.

Oh no it was well before that, Im only up to Chapter 2 now. It was the fight in Torigoth against Mórag(?), it only took a few attempts and it was mostly just me getting used to the combat.

I haven't found any of the main quest stuff too difficult so far, but I'm still only on Chapter 4 so that may change!

I've also spent quite a large chunk of time arsing about on side quests and general exploration so I get the impression my characters might be slightly above the level expected for this stage of the game!

Still loving is so far though, I love the feel of these games, theres something really nice about them that way. I would love a Skell to bomb about the place in though. :shifty:
