20 hours in and still getting tips :shifty:
Getting good now though, really loving the battle system and how you can use it depending on who you are fighting. Plus now got rid of that annoying little gooseberry fool out of my party.

But that maid cut scene was hilarious

I've just started playing this again, after sinking a good hundred hours into it over the Winter. Have to say that it has really grown on me. I was not particularly sold on the voice acting at first and some of the game design was a little annoying but I've come to really love the game.

Best part for me is the combat, the sheer number of options and strategies that you have at your disposal. It's so satisfying when you get multiple blade and driver combos going one after the other (although I could only do the full driver combo consistently later in the game) and when you then unleash a chain attack and get a full burst, it's excellent. The range of rare Blades you can use and the detail that is put into each and every one of them is impressive too. I mean looking beyond the weapon, element and general power of the Blade, so many more tactical options are opened up by the each Blades skills. It's one of the things I have really liked about the recent Xenoblade games, just the sheer scale of them.

Personally I think it is worth doing as many quests as you can as it does raise trust but you can just give pouch items to raise trust instead I suppose. Think one of Dromarch's level 5 skills requires that 100 quests have been completed as well.

If I have two things that annoy me about this game its the quest indicator which is confusing at best and the lock onto enemies which randomly chages when you are fighting multiple enemies and sometimes the R button to change back takes a few taps

Apart from that this game is amazing

End of chapter 3 spoiler
vandham

The worst part is I’ll have to have Tora back in my party now :fp:

I'm sure I'm doing this combat wrong. What am I supposed to do beside bash the A button?

You shouldn't really be bashing any buttons? It's more about timing, waiting for moves to "charge", and exploiting the combinations between different character/blades available moves.

How far in are you?

Don't fight anything that is more than 2-3 levels above you (if you have a party) or same level if you're on your own.

Is there a way to disconnect with a fight or do I just try and run away?

Press R and A and then run. You have to have your weapon drawn first though I think.

Yeah R and A will let you sheath your weapon - you still need to outrun the enemy though!

Is it just you with Pyra as your blade? That bit is tricky, best to ignore any monsters you don't have to fight and push on with the main story quest.

Yeah, I've moved on a bit and it then began to tell me about timing of moves

Also, I wouldn’t bother with fights unless you have 3 team members. The combat is designed for 3. The bits in the story when you don’t have three are unbalanced combat wise.

No your team can have up to three drivers.

Go to the menu and team and select Rex and you can choose "select blades you want to travel with" and add them in from there

I seem to recall there being a limit on the number of blades you can assign to a driver at the start of the game? Quite a lot of the core features of the combat system are locked out for the early chapters to avoid overloading the player.
