Zelda DLC totally stole my attention from this. Awkward. I must try to go back to it soon before I forget what I'm doing...

Just started this and loved the initial cutscene. Zelda DLC 2 is a bit of a distraction, but I am sure that I will get into this.

I just treated myself to this game.

Don't really know anything about this series, but it looks like the type of thing I'll love.

Should I play the first game first?

Nah, you'll be alright to jump straight in to this, Andy. I asked a similar question a while back and, although the first two games are highly regarded, you dont need to have played them to enjoy this adventure.

Great, thanks. :toot:

I'm not sure how I've completely missed this series. It passed me by on the Wii and Wii U, but has somehow grabbed my attention on the Switch.

Only thing is, I haven't even started Zelda

Edit - for those who missed the Special Edition, it's back in stock on Amazon for £69.99. Looks like a pretty cool special edition.

Just finished Chapter 2, strawberry float me this is a good game!

I still don't think I'm on top of everything where the battle system is concerned but I'm really enjoying how it expands as your party grows.

How good is this game? Is it on par or better than the first?

Waiting for Christmas to start my copy

Can anyone give me some help with the battle system. I just keep dying all the time. Is there no way to defend or block? This is why I hate JRPGs and why I loved Final Fantasy 15 and how it moved away from traditional japanese auto controls.

You will automatically evade or block an attack depending on your stats. Different Blades change your class and with it your stats which can help you better tank a hit or buff/heal yourself and your team. It's worth checking out which driver arts you have available depending on the equipped Blade and doing a bit of level grinding for better items and stats.

Which chapter are you on? Once you get more people in your party it all becomes a lot easier to keep on top of the enemy.

Edit: To build on that, there is also enemy aggro to be aware of. If you're using Rex you'll be dishing out a lot of damage which will make nearby enemies more aggressively target you - you'll see this represented by a red circle targeting you. If you're getting swamped with enemies it can instead be worth targeting an enemy and hitting down on the left Joycon/DPad to get their attention and draw them away from others so you can tackle them one-by-one. There are certain driver arts you can use to raise or lower your aggro during a fight and also items you can equip to do a similar job. Once you get a tank it's a good idea to equip aggro and health items on them so you can focus on support or damage with your other party members.

Also, don't be afraid to back off and flee if too many enemies get involved. You do this by holding R and pressing B and legging it.

Chapter 2 I think - the second titan. Thanks for the tip on legging it. I have tried to complete a few side missions, but there are a few where you need to battle enemies and its difficult to defeat them with just two characters!

Aye, a couple of the side missions around there also take you dangerously close to level 50+ enemies who seem to like getting involved with little warning thanks to the aggro. Even now I occasionally get one-shotted by some level 70+ enemy who decided to fly overhead!

Without wanting to spoil things too much I'd suggest pushing on with the main story just a bit further so you get your 3rd character to fulfil the tank role. It makes things a lot easier and you can then focus on clearing the side missions with less hassle.

It takes a while to work out what you can and can not take on. Depends on the type of enemy, how many there are and what level they are at. Also depends what Blades you have. I've found ones with healing arts to be useful as a backup.

Need to experiment really as some enemies with an equal level to me are really easy to defeat but you can go and pick a different enemy and suddenly it's taking twice as long to win. I think not picking fights with lots of enemies at once, or ones who are 3+ levels above you, is the way to go. I'm on chapter 3 now and even though more AOE options are becoming available, I don't actually think AOE is that effective as all the enemies seem to have really high HP.

I'm really starting to enjoy this now. But so many things are still left unexplained and I keep forgetting what I've already been told. Latest gripe is that I have to remember to change what is in my pouch just before it runs out, otherwise it just refills automatically. :|

Apparently there is a patch due next week which adds an easy mode to Tiger! Tiger!, adds an extra level of zoom to the minimap, and now when you open the map, it starts on the area you are currently in rather than always defaulting to Argentum.

I'm sad they turned Nintendo's premier JRPG series into Big Old Anime Titties for the weeaboos. You guys have the Vita for that, remember?

Although I suppose it already happened to Fire Emblem, with that whole "I'm an ancient 1000yr old dragon who chooses to look like a 12yr old in hotpants". Phew, that is certainly the product of a healthy and well-balanced individual.
