All in all a really good game, not perfect by any means but few games are. Marks out of 10? Probably an 8 - 8.5. If the blades field skills weren't an issue and the odd cheap one party KO from the last boss (which I just find pretty cheap) weren't there it'd probably be an easy 9. Loved the story and the world but part of Xenoblade is exploring the world and the stupid field skill thing made exploration much more limiting in my opinion. Even though it took an age to click the combat was superb by the closing stages.
Looking forward to Torna The Golden Country now, just ordered myself a copy! Although I probably will try and clear some of my backlog before I get around to playing it.
glad you enjoyed it over all what did you think og the connections to the original?
Thought it tied them together very nicely, something people who've played them both will pick up but a new player isn't going to lose out if they haven't.

That's right, Robbo. The download version launches tomorrow whilst the cart version (complete with season pass download code) launches next Friday (22 Sep).

Cheers, I'll be sure to crack it open and at least activate the season pass before I forget about it then
Noone taken the Torna DLC for a spin yet? Any early impressions? I came close to picking it up over the weekend but I think Ill hold off and give it a playthrough on Xmas, Ive got enough to be getting on with now.
Same here - I've got too much on my plate so I'm holding of on Torna for a while.
Here's hoping it's as good as the main game, the parts covering the Torna background stuff were actually some of the more interesting story elements in the game so I'm really looking forward to what they have come up with!

I’ve already paid for the season pass but when I dip back into I plan to go back to the main game afterwards and complete a load of the side stuff. I can see it being another 100 hour investment so I want to clear my list (Rayman Legends, Wolfenstein II, Skyrim) first.

ive been playing it, really enjoying it, combat is both an interesting variation and very much the same at the same time
Anyone got any advice for the Malos boss in Chapter... 7?
I'm not sure what combo of drivers/blades to be using, because currently I've got Nia as a blade, which means *I'm* the healer, but she's only got one move that can restore people's health, and Malos does damage quicker than I can heal...
At the moment I've got Rex/Morag/Zeke, but Morag has a habit of getting the Aggro and standing next to the massive strawberry floating hole in the floor, so Malos just uses his stupid blowdown move and she's gone Idiot.
I'm level 58 and he's 52 and I still can't get down more than maybe two thirds of his health before he takes me out. Reviving people so much that I can't build up the mega combo anyway
Little irritating that I'm locked out of a couple of my blade quests too because I haven't got Pyra

Literally focus on Malos, after they are down to half health it becomes a lot easier. Jin will keep on getting your party to lock onto him so just switch back. As for my team I just used Rex, Nia and Tora. Never really delved into using Morag and Zeke much. I found it a little tricky to start but did it after a few tries.
I had good luck using Nia as a blade for heals and Tora and Morag both as tanks, I used this combination for most of the game and it trivialised a lot of the fights. I found Zeke to be good for damage but his animations were often so long that it messed up the driver combos.
There is also a trick to avoid some of the team-wiping AoE attacks by adding the 3rd stage of a blade combo or initiating a chain attack when you know it's coming.

I had no idea about this, the product listing is really unclear, thanks for clearing it up.
Whose idea was it to have you fight basically the same boss again five minutes after you've just beaten them? Only now they've gone up a few levels...
Will give it another try tomorrow. Wish there was a way of finding the right elemental combo for the effect that you want before you've actually started the combo. That Shackle Blade move is dreadful.
...few expansions are as vast in their size and content as Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country. Whether you’re a season pass holder looking to revisit a series you love from a new perspective, or you’re fresh to the franchise and want a standalone adventure, this hefty slice of JRPG action will grab you right from the moment you start switching between Blade and Driver. With some welcome adjustments to combat and combos, this is a fine addition to an already brilliant game on Switch.

If you're going to have one character as your party healer then my advice would be to customise their blades and arts to ensure that, where possible, every move they have offers some kind of healing effect - either directly or in giving you a chance of dropping more health potions during battle. Also remember that when you are using specials and working through a blade combo your party members will change blades to prioritise the combo - so if your combo needs a fire element next and your healer has a fire element blade then they will switch to using that even if none of the arts for that blade have a healing property.
I had Nia as my healer for most of the game and once I had collected a decent set of blades for her she pretty much kept everyone topped up most of the time as almost all of her arts had some healing effect.
The other thing to remember is that when your blade is performing a special you are often able to run around the battlefield much quicker for a brief period - this makes collecting health potions easier!
The Torna DLC is sounding pretty good from reviews I've read and watched, won't be playing it straight away (although probably will install and activate the code for the season pass when it arrives) but sounds like I'm in for a treat when I do play it.
Finished Chapter 7 now! Thanks for all the advice, guys
Was looking forward to finishing off some sidequests now Pyra's back, but NO.
Get Pyra back, lose everyone else
I like how much less HP Jin has when he's a party member as opposed to when you're fighting him. It's an odd system when you think of the numbers involved. Some of the bosses must have health bars in the millions!

Yeah it doesn't make a load of sense, but then I guess having a party member with a huge health bar would also look a bit odd!
From chapter 7 onwards I really didn't want to do anymore side quests, partly due to having gotten fed up with the amount of fetch quests but mainly because the story gripped me a lot more from that point on.
It contains the Torna DLC on a cart and t also contains a code to download the season pass content for Xenoblade 2? Does this mean if you get the season pass you get the Torna DLC digital as well?
