Except that gamerscore is wank, and it's both hilarious and slightly sad to see the importance people attach to a self-evidently flawed "scoring" system that tells you, at best, which of your friends has the most time and disposable income.

IIRC, the developer didn't want to charge for it, and since he couldn't give it away, never released the 360 version.

You can get it as PSP homebrew though.

So that's what happened to Jelly Car. The developer should just release it for 80 points, I remember really enjoying the demo game of it on 360 ages ago and would happily pay the smallest amount Live will sell Indie games for.

Bought it today, plays well and it's good fun for 80 Points (68p - cheap as chips!).

Streets of Fury is out now, gonna give it a go tonight:

Wacky Karts was a bit disappointing :(

Edit: Streets of Fury is pretty decent, good menu music too.

Haven't tried it, yet, but why was it disappointing?

I think the AI racers are too good, it's a bit unbalanced. I didn't see much weapon variety in the trial, and I'd argue that the price (400 Points) is too high for what is a clone of an old Mario Kart game but without the polish or charm and it's nowhere near as fun :(

After Z0MB1ES I went on a bit of a hunt through the Indie games. Most games seemed to have plenty of good ideas which were let down in execution. I was impressed with the polish and features of Easy Golf, and Groove worked really well even if the visuals were a bit bland.

Ninja train had a great visual style and was fairly fun, bizarrely the game is shorter than the trial period though. :?

Wow indie games is on a total roll of win at the moment. After the really cool looking games in the XNA 'Dream Build' competition, the release of 'I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES!!!1' and 'Streets of Fury' have really made my week.

'Z0MB1ES' is a great little Smash TV type game that is just pure, old school fun with the games music being one of the main highlights. It's great to see something that's short and fun come out for 80 MSPs, I really hope more games like this are released on the service as I'd definitely pick them up at this price.

'Streets of Fury' is a bit like 'Streets Of Rage' but with real, digitised people so it ends up looking like the original Mortal Kombat but with much smoother animation. While the game could get quite repetitive for some, I found it really fun and the look and feel of it was a great throwback to past generations of gaming.

Keep up the good work XNA developers, I'm really loving this service at the moment :D :D

Oh wow. Miner Dig Deep is inexplicably awesome :o . Played it for an hour this evening. Really not what I expected it to be.

Also tried that new Japanese dodgeball game, which might be awesome if I could figure out what's going on. Looks totally 80's arcade-tastic though.

I just played the Lolcat game. Why is there a game that is just pictures of Lolcats that you scroll through?

Exactly why we needed (and love that we got) a rating system. Even for those us making the "good" games, the rating systems help us get the feedback that actually matters, what the gamers on the system think.

Downloaded the Streets of Fury trial on my US account. Its decent but even if I wanted to buy I can't because Microsoft won't let people in the Republic of Ireland buy stuff. Load of tosh.

I think a couple of these may become Xbox Live Arcade releases, Dust especially.

On the Indie games side, I haven't played enough to give verdicts yet, but the following are out now

Halfbrick Rocket Racing (240 points) - the end of the demo says it's 200 points, tut tut

Avatar Golf (400 points), this looks pretty decent and has an editor etc, but need to try Easy Golf too to see which is better

Dream.Build.Play 2009 Winners Announced!

This year’s global Dream.Build.Play competition garnered more 350 games from over 100 countries, nearly doubling the number of community members who enrolled in and submitted Dream.Build.Play titles from those in last year’s competition. Many of these creators have the opportunity to appear on the Xbox LIVE Indie Games Channel.

Dean Dodrill of the United States earned the grand prize of $40,000 for “Dust: An Elysian Tail” a side-scrolling, action role-playing game in which the player controls Dust, a man searching for himself. Set in the beautiful yet mysterious world of Falana, this game chronicles Dust’s journey to liberate an oppressed village and rediscover his past. Meticulously hand-animated and painted, “Dust: An Elysian Tail” welcomes exploration, action, and above all else, mastery of a fighting system that rewards skilled gamers.

Panya Inversin and his team from the United States took home second place and $20,000 for their stunning 3-D, four-player brawler/space-shooter, “Max Blastronaut”.

Nivel21 Entertainment, led by Mauricio Garcia from Spain, received third place and $10,000 for the challenging puzzle game “Rotor’scope – The Secret of the Endless Energy”.

China’s Hu Ling and his team came in fourth place and received $5,000 for the stylish martial arts action game “HurricaneX2 Evolution”.

I think all four will be offered XBLA publishing contracts too.

I started downloading a few trials last night and after ignoring these games I'm going to have to try a few.

80 points is a great price.
