Any fighting tips?

None of the top of my head, sorry. Just keep playing and unlocking abilities in the various combat styles and you'll soon get good. Um... lower the difficulty until you unlock more abilities.

A related tip: stock up on Stamina Royales (drink found in drug stores); use equipable weapons (so not just gooseberry fool laying on ground, etc but weapons which you can purchase later on. The swords and electric nunchaku are bestest); buy the inventory items which will bring you back to life after a killing blow. (There are 2 versions of those and you'll likely need them for the Mr Shakedown encounters.)

I only discovered towards the end of chapter 1 that you can actually use a special move on downed enemies. You need some energy built up, then stand next to them, and a button prompt will appear in the top right of the screen. I don't think this was mentioned in the Bacchus tutorials, so I missed it until my third attempt at fighting Kuze.

Finally beat Club Mars in the cabaret battle today too.

Also, the kettle is officially my favourite melee weapon, beating the pliers and salt shaker.

Thanks for the tips.

I think I'm struggling a bit to adapt after the Batman games so need to get used to the more clunkier mechanics.

Are there any particular advantages to using one style of fighting over another? I prefer the Rush style, especially when dealing with groups, but not sure if there is more to it.

I tend to use the rush style to stunlock people holding weapons or if I'm somewhere without any stuff to pick up. The other two styles are better for dealing with groups.

Yeah beast mode and spamming weapon attacks wins every fight as Kiryu-chan. Majima- stunlock fools with slugger.

Holy gooseberry fool, chapter 4 kicks things up a notch. That Majima cliffhanger was unbelievably tense.

I'm up to Chapter 10 on this and have been treating the fighting element as a lesser part of the game, coming behind the mini games and side quests and story.

That's not to say I haven't been enjoying it (beating the gooseberry fool out of someone with a sofa has never been so much fun), but I really just take the approach of spamming attacks and keeping an eye out for the Heat move indicator (triangle button) to appear. It's worth keeping in mind that it's very context sensitive, but there are usually enough situations per battle for you to unleash bike/traffic cone/face to wall carnage, and you can upgrade as you go to keep the Heat gauge from dropping too quickly etc.

I'm loving some of the mini games. I think I've spent more time playing pool and darts in this than I have irl, the telephone club one is a smart idea (unfortunately the setting means playing it results in lots of disapproving looks from my wife), but I think I enjoy the karaoke the most...24 Hour Cinderella is an absolute tune!

I love how Kiryu is on the one hand a member of the criminal underworld but on the other is completely naive about a lot of things like the telephone clubs etc. Its a very clever minigame, but quite difficult because the phone shot has a bit of a delay and some of the wrong answers are hilarious, as well as the other more...obvious distractions. What gets me is the conceit that Kiryu is actually debating whether to say a girl is clammy or describe himself as miniscule in the conversation

On the one hand I want to see what that's about, on the other I want to be confused/surprised like I was in Y0.
