Yeah if you pot another ball into the 9th ball into a pocket you’ll win as well.

Same goes for Mahjong. I don’t really get it at all.

I think Mahjong is somewhat similar to Rummikub. Something along the lines of making sets of 3 and straights. Each game seems to last forever though and I have neither the time nor patience for it.

Kiryu’s 4th fighting style is a bit of a cheat code isn’t it? The boss at the end of chapter 6 was a cakewalk using it.

Well it is his signature style.

It’s not so much the moves but the stat upgrades it gives you, I understand you can become near godlike.

True, but it takes obscene amounts of money to do so, even with the Real Estate minigame.

But that's the reason you can turn it off if you don't want to use it.

I don’t mind it so much it was just a little unexpected after being on a pretty level playing field with the enemies for a good while. I’m probably gonna put it to use farming Mr Shakedowns.

Funny enough it’s not my favourite style. I prefer the beast.

I get the feeling I’m nearing the end of this now. Each character only has one substory left which I understand are superbosses and thanks to an unexpected twist the two plot lines are now starting to converge. I’m also close to 90% completion with most of what I’m missing being minigame related.

EDIT: So I gave Kiryu’s last substory a go last night... Christ, he doesn’t strawberry float about does he?

While I realise that standing there taking your jacket off followed by unbuttoning your shirt to then take that off too would look far less dramatic I have to wonder, where does everybody gets those quick release jacket and shirt combos from?

EDIT: WTF? I posted this in early October right around the time I finished the game so why is it suddenly saying I posted it this morning?

Ok so, put about 3 hours into this so far and just got to chapter 2, really liking it so far. The story is good so far and I like the way it’s been paced and the characters that have been introduced.

The fighting system is good too but need some tips really, what is the best style to use? Or is it best to keep mixing it up? It doesn’t seem like it’s the sort of thing you switch up during a fight or am I doing it wrong? I have been using the rush style as I’m using the dodge quite a bit especially against Kuze

You can definitely switch in middle of battle, but I'm thinking it'll probably leave you open to attack if you do it close to enemies. Upgrade all styles because even though you may always fall back on one or two, chances are you're gonna come up against enemies/circumstances where your least fancied style will help the most. I found beast style to be a great help when you want fights against scrubs to be over quickly.

Do yourself a favour and stock up on Stamina Royale (bought at Drug Stores), stone items (one looks like an egg, the other a person). Drink will come in handy in general, stones will be useful for shakedowns when you're about to die. Oh, weapons are great for shakedown fights as well!

Do I need to wait for a certain point before I am able to use weapons? Not had an option so far

Purchasable swords, baseball bats, other weapons (good ones) will unlock with Majima and then a wee while later on with Kiryu. But stuff on the street (signs, traffic cones, bikes, weaponry dropped by enemies, etc, etc) you can use right away. Apologies if you were aware of that!

I didn’t know you could pick up dropped weapons :slol: what do you need to do to pick them up?

Pressing circle once near the item/weapon should do it. (I think you also get prompted with a visual queue :dread: cue.)

Just remember that weapons you pick up in a fight are useable only for that fight. Weapons which you want to hold on to must be won, found outside of battle, or bought.

edit: Beast style will allow you to wield larger makeshift weapons, like a scooter or a motorbike. A couch as well? I'm recalling lamping someone with couches...

Also to use weapons you own you have to equip them first then press down on the D pad to use them in battle. I don’t think the game does a good job of explaining this.
