In 2005, a legend was born on the PlayStation 2 – the legend of Kazuma Kiryu, the Dragon of Dojima, in his video game debut with Yakuza. Now, 11 years after that release, a new generation of players will be able to experience the incomparable action and drama of the Yakuza series with the rebuilt-from-scratch HD remake exclusive to PlayStation 4, Yakuza Kiwami.

This series completely passed me by so I'd quite like to play this... it's a bit like Shenmue isn't it?

Pick up Yakuza 0 first. You'll be able to get it for cheap now and enough time to complete it before Kiwami setting you up nicely.

Ugh, hate these steel book releases. I'd want to wait for a regular version, but there's a good chance there won't even be a regular print run. They might just leave it digital only after the initial production run.

More gangster less mystical shiz. But yeah, it's been said before that it's the successor to Shenmue:

I don't go out of my way to buy them, but if this is the only version available on release, and it's price decently, then I don't have any issues buying it. Doubly so when they look like this...

Is Yakuza 0 any cheaper than £27.99 anywhere? Might take the plunge

Nope. Not even on eBay. Get it bought as it's superb value for money.

Have this pre-ordered; must get stuck into Yakuza 0 before this and no 6 hits.

Yakuza Kiwami: Majima Everywhere System Explained, Bonus Theme for Pre-orders - Pre-order the extreme remake of the original Yakuza from PlayStation Store to nab this slick PS4 theme for free.

The release of Yakuza Kiwami, the PS4 remake of the original Yakuza, is just over a month away now, and we’ve got some good news for those of you who want a digital copy – you can now preorder your copy on PlayStation 4 for $29.99 and get a free Akira Nishikiyama and Kazuma Kiryu PS4 theme to go with it! This theme features the fearsome looking Dragon of Dojima, and of course, the best bro-gone-bad ever, Akira Nishikiyama, with his evil slicked-back hair.

Yakuza Kiwami, of course, goes into way more detail about what happens between 1995 and 2005 that turns Nishikiyama into a jerk, but what I think has had people really excited since we presented the game at E3 has been the Majima Everywhere system, where everybody’s favorite maniac can spring up on you from any place, at any time.

But you’ll actually want to fight him – mostly because Kiryu’s fourth and most powerful fighting style, the Dragon of Dojima style, is only leveled up by fighting Majima, who has taken it upon himself to retrain Kiryu so that he may regain what he lost in the years he was away from the city.

I won’t even begin to spoil all the incredible, sometimes hilarious, encounters with Majima, but early on in the game, you’ll be notified that “Officer” Majima is working the beat by the Millennium Tower, and he’s on the lookout for any one carrying any suspicious weapons. Try swinging by the area with a knife, gun, or maybe a frozen tuna on your person. You won’t be disappointed.

One more thing about the Majima Everywhere system: he’s rarely the same enemy twice. He’s unpredictable. That’s right, he has all his battle styles previously featured in Yakuza 0, except they’re just as powerful as they were then, so do expect to get beat down with bats, break-danced into the ground, and of course, stabbed, shanked, and cut when he comes at you in Mad Dog style. Did I mention he has Heat Actions too?

Zavvi still seems to be taking pre-orders for the steelbook.

Still playing Yakuza 0 and loving it, I soon slapped down a preorder for this from Amazon after two days of playing Yakuza 0.

And I've even bought Yakuza 3 and Dead Souls for the PS3 (got the fourth and fifth ones on PS3 thanks to PS Plus.)

So excited for this! Was so hyped for the original Yakuza, but ended up getting a 360 before it came out, so the PS2 went into the cupboard. It then just became one of those series that I never got around to. I bought 0 but I've decided to hold off playing it until later.

If you can start 0 now. You'll find Kiwami just that bit more enjoyable.
