I sent some stuff to Costa Rica last week, wonder if that will be held up as a result.

Mind you, my package which was mailed to Bangladesh on December 6th, only left the UK on January 4th.

The last time I sold a single sticker to the USA I actually just cancelled and refunded it. European trade is a total nightmare especially if you are VAT registered. I guess with the US one I just couldn't be strawberry floated with it altogether.

Waiting for a parcel from DHL it’s just been sat in the local depot for the past 3 days with the estimated delivery date in the past! such a useless app!

Speaking of crap apps, Evri delivered my parcel while the app still wait at depot!

How are we meant to rely on these apps

Evri are Useless, I had a package that was delivered to mine which wasn't for me. Three times I contacted them to try and help and just got emails back saying they were looking into it before never hearing back from them.

In the end I did some investigating myself and found the person and delivered their package. I didn't know I could do a better job then a delivery company!

Can't stand this drop and run gooseberry fool all the delivery drivers seem to do now.

I would set up the DPD app. As I think now if you're not in by default they will try a neighbour, but it sounds like you were in and they failed that attempt and went to a "neighbour", who just has to be your friendly neighbourhood axe murderer. You can choose preferred neighbours (whether or not you're actually in they will be obligated to at least bounce to that) and also ones to avoid, and you can often set this to a business (maybe ask them ). You can also do that with website now, but annoyingly, I think you can only access the website version via the app. :fp:

Then after that they can bounce to a DPD Local collection point. Even if they are strawberry floating you around, it is at least in principle very hard to never get the thing compared to couriers who have no control over the delivery at all.

If I were you, I wouldn't bother specifying a safe place so it always has to go to someone. I think once you do that it's stuck there as an option but they are supposed to always ring the address and try you first then take a picture of the parcel at your feet or in your hands.

It got better - via the screen with the shitty gate photo there was a thumbs up or down, so I gave a negative and pressed the wrong address image. Got a OH THE NOES SOZ BBZ message, and the IMAGE DISSAPEARED. The link would then just say I'd signed for it. Complained via the place I'd bought it from and by some miracle the guy could see the photo and went on street view to match an approximate house  Sent me a screenshot and everything. I went and got it in the end but will be pushing them to complain (I think he's already put a complaint in on my behalf).

I'll look at this fangled app of which you speak, thanks.

To be fair the app is really good and gives you updates and lets you choose preferences per delivery (as well as default preferences for all deliveries, with preferences preserved on a parcel by parcel basis). It works by just matching your phone number or address to deliveries. You don't need to create a pointless log-in, they must just sync and/or remove duplicates. You can also pinpoint manually the exact location of your door and provide a description.

I think when you do that they start investigating it and potentially rearrange delivery and they can sometimes do really quickly.

I had some weird gooseberry fool where the asshole son of my previous landlord appeared to have taken in one of my wholesale orders mistakenly sent to the address I moved out from months beforehand. So then I freaked out, went to my old (good) neighbour and practically tried to get in via the back entrance and see if I could get it or confront the guy, and eventually found out it was delivered instead to someone a few doors down - I think it was rejected by the failson of the landlord (but there was still a picture of my old doorstep and his trainers) and sent down the road or they rearranged delivery while I was contacting the supplier to have them sort it out on their end. However, this was updated over the course of a day or so (I immediately travelled into my previous town to suss it out because I don't like waiting for gooseberry fool to get worse) with basically no communication.

Almost lost 200 quid worth of premium hoodies, it was a strawberry floating nightmare.

My favourite story which is still in this thread somewhere is when DHL just dumped an £80 or so item on the pavement outside my frontdoor, which is literally a bus stop, and I mean the precise spot at which the door of the bus would open and people would walk out or get on. No porch or anything. Just a door. It was there for an entire afternoon until evening, and it was marked as "safe place".

One thing I miss is senders bothering to pass on mobile numbers for SMS alerts, as I hate having to use a smartphone for strawberry floating everything, especially where there's functionality unavailable on anything else, like a normal strawberry floating computer.

There will always be shitty couriers but at least there are some controls these days, it's up to humans to follow the protocol and use the system properly, which of course, they don't and just fudge it because lol

I only know this gooseberry fool because all my suppliers use the more expensive couriers, except for UPS who can go strawberry float themselves (cost me over £500 in replacement goods I printed for free and out of pocket, and both that and the latest pre-9:30am delivery were days late. Last time they managed to sort the parcel into the wrong post code, how do you even do that? It's barcoded for strawberry float's sake).

Edit: found the image

It's funny how things change; royal mail are now utterly useless and it's companies like evri and yodel who actually seem to be able to deliver, certainly round here.

RM have lost about 5 things recently;

Two had no tracking so have simply vanished and it's been weeks.

One has the tracking that only updates when they try to deliver, it hasn't so after a week of waiting for it - a new mower blade - I went to homebase yesterday and bought one and now have to do the "please wait 7 days and we'll send another" bullshit when no, i want a refund as I had to go sort it myself elsewhere.

One has the tracking saying it arrived at a regional hub last Saturday morning and that's the last sign of it, the seller will send another not by royal mail thankfully but still insist on waiting 7 working days. It's obviously gone but we have to go through the hoops.

Another thing I ordered from a website I chose not to use royal mail specifically because of the above states 2 days for dispatch, and it's been a week and they still haven't sent it and tomorrow is the final estimated delivery day which for some reason was a week, so if it doesn't come tomorrow I have to start chasing them too.

I'm now looking at places that offer alternatives to RM and paying more for delivery as a "it'll actually arrive" tax. I want to get a micro SD card but I'm genuinely considering a click and collect from bloody Currys of all places as it's nearby and I can just go and pick the bloody thing up.

Yodel driver left a parcel in the middle of our drive in full view of the road when there's a little wall RIGHT THERE they could have put it behind. Huge hole in the packaging. AND I WAS IN THE HOUSE ALL DAY. Almost like they just tossed it from their moving van. I hate leaving crappy feedback but I'm pretty pissed off. It's an expensive gift!

And then Amazon sent me two massive tubs of wall plaster in the same box as a Lego thing I ordered separately as a present and they just crushed it, it didn't stand a chance. Fffff.

Received a text from argos today, the 31st, telling me the monitor I ordered on the 25th will be delivered by the 27th. :|

Delivery not being fulfilled by them, it's coming direct from the supplier, which means when I chase it, I'm going through argos as middlemen.

I've been told by email it should be delivered tomorrow, but still no tracking details.
