strawberry floating hell UPS is a shambles if they can't deliver on the first attempt.

They tried to deliver my HP Stream yesterday, but I wasn't expecting it so I'd gone shopping, meaning I had a card through my letterbox saying that they'd try again the next business day (ie today). Since they hadn't delivered it today so far, despite being well past the time they tried yesterday, I decided to check the online tracking info. That says that the parcel was going to be taken to a collection point nearby since I wasn't in. Ok, fair enough. So I go round to the collection point to pick it up, and they haven't got it.
Get home, call UPS customer service (they really don't want you getting through to a person) to find out what the hell is going on. Turns out it's actually a combination of the two. They will delivery it to a collection point, but not until the next working day. What the strawberry float? If you're going to take it to a collection point after one failed delivery, why not take it straight there? Or at least take them there at the end of the day? Why wait until the next working day to take it to the collection point? Couldn't even say what time it would be dropped off there, just "By the end of the working day".

I expect this level of incompetence from Yodel, not UPS.

Any delivery company except Royal Mail and DPD just seem to be incapable of doing something as simple as moving an item from Point A to Point B.

I'm not being sarcastic here, but you do have a genuine over expectation on this part. They will take it back at the end of the round. They don't have time to dart back to the warehouse because you were not in! I don't know any courier that would do that.

When the place is literally round the corner, I expect them to take it straight there if that's where it's going to end up.
If they're going to be back in the area anyway the following day though, why not at least try my house again on the way to the collection point?

Or at least, y'know, make it clear on the card that it's going to be taken to a collection point rather than implying on the card that it'll be delivered to my house, but putting into the online tracking that it's been taken (already) to a collection point.

Getting the card wrong - fine that's not on - but you know these guys have to work a military time schedule. Just popping around the corner for your extra special supremo service won't work!

This is the problem with these collection points though. I'd much rather they just took it to the local depot and asked me to pick it up. At least then I'd know where it went at the end of the day and I could get it the following day, rather than from a collection point 2 days later.

Having said that, despite being told that it would be taken to the collection point "by the end of the day", as I'm thinking about going out, UPS man turns up with my delivery.

I knew an old guy, lived in the mountains and tended goats. Used to keep the whole town awake with his incredibly loud singing voice.

Ended up shacked up with a woman and her daughter. Slightly weird arrangement, but that's the way it was left, TBH.

Got next day delivery on an item yesterday, sent by Yodel. Was hoping that maybe if it was a signed-for delivery it'd be ok. Nope. Delivery window was up until 9pm today, I was in all day until 6, then I went out but someone else has been in that whole time. Got an email and text saying it had been delivered at 8ish. Rang home to find out if it had actually been delivered, no sign of the parcel, no one had knocked or rang the bell, no "we missed you" or "parcel is next door" note or anything. Looked all around the outside of the house, including in bins. Nothing.

strawberry floating useless banana splits. Probably been delivered to someone else or nicked by the driver or something.

Gonna have to get in touch after work tomorrow. strawberry float's sake.

Or just ditched by the roadside.

Speaking of this stuff, I got a royal mail tracked text the other day saying something would be delivered soon. Then about 2 seconds later a text saying it was delivered. Thing is this was for something 2 or 3 days beforehand so it took me a while to figure out what the strawberry float it was. Yes I am aware the thing that arrived 2 days ago has been out for delivery and delivered, I already signed for it. :fp: at least they're trying to be up to date.

Actually, I like those texts. I get stuff sent to work and reception never tell me when parcels have arrived. So at least this way I know when my parcel is there.

Yeah, it's sort of useful anyway as a reminder of that thing I received and did nothing with yet.

DPD have cemented themselves as #1 in my eyes. Items ordered from Amazon yesterday evening and delivered before midday today! Outstanding.

Yodel today: At Service Center, expected delivery: Friday

I'd be even more mad if I'd actually paid more for next day

Package delivered by Yodel yesterday. Jiffy bag was opened and the little box holding the contents (chocolate anus sweets from Firebox) was squashed. Refused to sign for it and told the driver to just return it.

Yodel delivering something of mine soon :dread: wouldn't have used the company if I had known. Amazon Logistics is bad enough but this is on a whole new level of badness.
