Like how something boring can bore you into becoming bored, or something annoying can annoy you into becoming annoyed, something addicting can addict you into becoming addicted.

Of course, it's neater to shortcut to the pure adjective "addictive", and it certainly rolls off the tongue better, which is why we see that used much more in the UK, while borive and annoyive never even became words.

When your only defence here is really "that word you're using correctly is not what I say", you're on pretty shaky ground.

This post is equally borive and annoyive

I joke it was actually very informating

I'm glad I was able to informat you with this knowledge and that you are now informatted.

'Brexit'

Everyone would get so damn tired saying "Britain's exit from the European Union" over and over, the strawberry floating thing would just fall apart.

Does the 'crying with laughter' emoji count as a word?

'fam'

I don't know what it means and I don't know where it came from, but I hate everything it represents.

It’s short for “family” and means the same as calling a mate brother or bro.

Another one for Literally here. More so because most people use it incorrectly.

I've lived in and around Cheltenham most of my life and I can't say I've ever heard that one!

The modern craze for words like mansplaining and hepeated annoys me - they sound utterly strawberry floating ridiculous and although they have been coined to serve a positive purpose of highlighting genuine issues around sexism they end up being used themselves to create an echo chamber which can be quite sexist in itself.

I've heard of 'mansplaining' and similar bullshit, but I'd argue against the idea of it being something positive or highlighting genuine sexism. Always seems to just be used as a way of trying to disparage someone who disagrees with a point someone's making.

I'd like to nominate 'fair play' as something that needs to be eradicated. Unless it's used in a sporting context to describe someone's actions, it sounds ridiculous and doesn't make sense.

Not really a word as such, but the term..

2.5D

If you mean a game that plays in 2D but has 3D graphics then either say that or just 2D.

Have you not? That does surprise me.

Working at Game and Pink Planet I used to hear it all the time. Used to drive me bonkers.

Apparently it's when a woman shares an idea or suggestion which is ignored until it is repeated by a man after which everyone claims it's amazing and pats the man on the back for thinking of it.

I don't doubt this happens but the difficulty with these things as I see it is that the terms like "hepeated" or "mansplaining" become the ONLY explanation for the situation.

"They only listened to my idea when a man repeated it because everyone in the meeting was sexist"

It couldn't possibly be that actually you didn't convey the idea very well and the other person just happens to be a better communicator or is gifted at explaining and convincing others? NO, SEXISM!

Mansplaining is terrible - I get the concept but it's often used to just stifle debate in my experience.

We'll I've lived in Cheltenham for the last 17 years. I worked in Pink Planet then Game for the first 10 of those. That's when I used to hear it constantly. Maybe Gloucester louts traveling over?

Granted I don't hear "mush" as much cheese days, but it does crop up now and then.

I had to look up mansplaining because I didn't know what it meant.

Surely that's just acting like a total dick? Don't get why a new word was created simply to tie it to this circumstance.
