PlayStation 4 users can now purchase a new avatar via the PSN Store.

The UK avatar selection stretches to just a handful of LittleBigPlanet characters, many of which are free. Others will set you back the sum of 20p.

Previously-purchased PS3 avatars will transfer over shortly, Sony has also announced via Twitter.

Many more avatars are already available in North America, and will presumably trickle through to Sony's European PlayStation Store in the near future.

But I am confused because I thought you could buy avatars forever - aren't they exactly the same as PS3 avatars?

I've always just had a free Daxter mugshot and I never set a new one on getting my PS4. Much confusion.
