Young lady "resists arrest", gets dropped

Now, the girl is probably bang to rights as far as the law goes, but surely there was no need to punch her in the head whilst she was pinned to the ground, even if she was apparently spitting at them (maybe because she had sand in her mouth) and kicking out at the officer. The fact that the banana split told her "you're about to get dropped" showed that he got some sort of thrill out of what he was about to do as well.

I hope he gets done, big time.

A few years ago a police officer lost his gooseberry fool for like no reason and decided to assault my disabled father, he threw him around like a rag doll cuffed his wrists super tight and essentially tried to use the cuffs to break his wrists... I think that and this comes down to the idea that Power Corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.... I am not saying all police are corrupt but some of them are people who want power and then go on to abuse it.

I can say from personal experience that being a police officer can change people you know. It's not a career I'd ever want.

Doesn't look like she does anything at all to warrant such a response, hope the cop gets ripped to shreds for this.

The level of force that the US police are allowed to get away with is pretty mind blowing.
It's pretty much at a point where any resistance at all even just asking why you're being stopped gives them the right to assault you and plenty of people will back the police saying "Well, you didn't comply with the police so you deserve everything you get". It's pretty close to being a police state where the police can shoot you for even minor offences and just claim self defence.
It also doesn't help when any and all protests against the actions of the police are seen as unAmerican by many right wingers who want ever more people to be locked up for things most countries don't even count as crimes. There's a reason the US has the highest prison population on earth and a big part of it is that people who come out of prison are still strawberry floated as they get almost zero help from the state and most places won't hire people with criminal records.

I find it really weird that police are patrolling beaches trying to catch out 20-year olds who are having a drink.

For me alarm bells start ringing whenever a police force tries to claim it does not have a corruption problem. Every police force on the planet has a corruption problem; the power of policing is inherently corrupting. What I want to hear when police talk about corruption is an acknowledgement that it exists and their plans/mechanisms for dealing with it and preventing it getting out of control.

I have had run ins with pretty terrible police in the past. In one case I ended up witnessing when one office tried to wrongly evict a friend from their own property (only prevented due to them personally knowing a lawyer who they were able to contact late at night). I won't go into it but basically their ex had close family ties to the police force... Of course, I have also encountered good people in the force, but some of the bad incidents really stick out and make the complacency of senior officers and their supporters hard to swallow.
